Arrival Story:
Gibson was found stray when he was between 6-8 weeks old. We met him at an event at HAWS in Waukesha and fell in love. Our initial intent was to just foster and place him into a new home, however, he proved to us what a special dog he really is.

Bio:
Gibson is a clown in a dog's body. He oinks when he gets excited, loves to run laps and seems to think that barriers are meant to be jumped over! His love in life is our niece, who turned 6 in July of 2006. He adores her, as she does him. He is currently training to earn his Canine Good Citizen title, as well as training to start attending Humane Education classes and other rescue events. His training had to be put on hold to visit the great people of Veterinary Specialty Options (www.animalrepair.com) in Audust of 2005 to have his right knee all" fixed up". Gibson is one of many dogs affected by Luxating Patellas - in very simple terms, the knee cap slides all over the place instead of staying in place over the knee. Gibby sure loves everyone there, and I can't speak highly enough of Dr. Edinger and his staff! Gibson was a new dog after his surgery - much happier and bouncier!

I am a new dog, let me tell you! Mom took me to a really cool place in August where I met a ton of people that all were making a big deal out of me. The people played around with my knee that hurt so much and talked with mom about my surgery. I didn't know what they were talking about, so I was my typical happy-go-lucky self while I was there. I learned what surgery is a week later!

Mom took my dinner away one evening and made sure I had no goodies hidden in my kennel, then she made me get up early (boy do I hate that!) and go for a ride back to the really nice vet. I was bummed that she didn't give my any breakfast or treats. I ALWAYS get treats when we go places! Mom then left me there! I couldn't believe it! She has never, ever left me anywhere before.

I fell asleep while I was there and woke up feeling like I got hit by a truck. I didn't know what happened or where I was. My leg felt funny too. Mom came and got me the next day. I had this funny wrap on my leg - but at least it was a manly black color! Mom was saying she was gonna put me in pink!!!

The next month was terrible. I wasn't allowed to play, to run, to jump or anything. I could only go outside to go potty on a leash - I was so used to running around the yard that I started throwing tantrums on the leash. Mom and Dad kept telling me I didn't want to hurt my knee, but they didn't understand that it didn't hurt anymore. I really felt the best I ever have! I also had to spend a lot more time in my kennel. I was throwing tantrums in there too - I started slamming my head into the door and the sides. I also learned that if I scream really loud either Mom or Dad come running to see what happened!

Like I said before, I am a new dog. I am now allowed to be a normal dog again...boy did I miss playing! My knee is all better too! Mom and Dad are so happy - I don't limp anymore and I can run like the wind. Although I really don't know if I like what this "surgery" meant, I guess I like what happened afterwards! It's so nice to feel good when I play!!
