Deuce earned his CGC title on his first try on March 9, 2002 after attending no obedience classes. He currently visits ~5 schools and several pet expos and related events a year to talk about humane education, dog safety, anti-fighting and basic pit bull fact vs. fiction classes.

What a rough life

Life as a mascot

I can't complain too much about my life. I grew up in a boarding kennel with no people to call my own, no couches, no counters to steal food from and so on. But now I have a big house, a big backyard, people that love me, lots of food and some really fun siblings to play with. BUT - sometimes those people can get a little annoying.

My mom keeps taking me to what she calls "events" where I have to sit around and be the perfect dog that I am. Normally, I love going for car rides and meeting new people, but on the days she says "mascot" I get worried. Does she have any clue how hard it is to stay awake for an entire 8-10 hours??? I also don't think she knows how hard it is to kiss every single person that comes by! I really get depressed when people see me and go out of their way to stay far away from me - I don't think she has a clue as to the trauma that really is. But, I guess she knows, because before every big "event" she always tells me that she loves me lots and lots and that if I manage to change just one person's views on pit bulls, then I can consider my day a sucess.
