Arrival Story: Mum adopted me when I was 8 weeks old, I am her little baby. She told me she rang a breeder and decided she would just go and have a look with her friend to show her what type of dog a Pomeranian was. Mum drove for around an hour and a half to get to the breeder. I was a little puppy and only 8 weeks old and ready to go to a home - I had a little sister who was very mischevious and then there was me! I sat quitely with Muma Carly, giving her my best special look, hoping she would take me home. A look was all it took - Muma said I was so special she just had to take me home. I traveled in a car for the first time and I was very calm, I wasn't upset - I just sat on Mum's friends lap in a little towel and looked around and had a bit of a sleep. Mum lived in an apartment way back then and she took me to a lovely park every day so I could have a run on the grass and sniff all the different smells. I was very quiet at fist - mum never heard mebark or cry and she was amazed at what a quiet little pup I was. All that soon changed when I became a talkative young lady!
Bio: I have a myspace www.myspace.com/gemmagemstone Gemma travels with me everywhere and has been on a cruise to Tasmania (Australia) where she met my mums dogs Odie (the poodle) and Maddison (the maltese/shitsu cross). Maddison became a good freind to Gemma - playing with her gently, even when Gemma was a bit excited and pulled on her tail and ears. They would look for each other every morning (Gemma sleeps in my room and Maddison and Odie sleep in my parents room) and explore together all day. Mum has a creek on her property and they loved to go down and have a little swim. Maddison would go in and one day Gemma jumped in after her! Odie taught Gemma how to bark - Odie is 10 years old and doesn't have any patience for Gemma so if Gemma got too close Odie would growl, and Gemma would growl back! Then she started to bark at Odie - we were excited to hear her little bark - it sounded exactly like when my Grandpa barked at her! It was sad when I had to come home, but they will see each other again soon to take up their friendship!
Gema loves to socialize with other dogs as long as they are not too aggressive (although she can be a handful herself). She goes to the local park at around 6pm each evening where there are a lot of different dogs, she stays close beside me as some of the dogs are very big and could hurt her. There is another little Pomeranian there called Lizzy, and she talks to Lizzy and the other little dogs that come to the park. Gemma loves to run and will run as fast as she can between me and my housemate when we stand on opposite sides of the 'off leash' area in the local park. She looks like a flying ball of fluff!
Gemma's best freind in Melbourne is Albert the Old English Sheepdog. Albert is my friends dog and a very gentle giant. He loves to walk with Gemma, althouth Gemma has to be careful to stay out of his way because he is so big and sometimes doesn't see when she is around! They love to walk in a local forest reserve and sniff all the animal smells. Gemma also loves to go to the beach and run on the sand, if the waves are small she will chase a stick into the water and retrieve it.
Gemma shares her home with a cockatiel called Zazu, she would love to play with Zazu but unfortunatley her 'play' would involve holding him in her mouth and shaking him as hard as she could - not something Zazu is interestead in at all! Gemma is able to run around the house and is rarely left on her own, preferring to travel with mum and sleep in the car (but never if it is a hot day). Gemma sleeps in a little pen at night (so she doesn't get up to too much mischief) and hops on the bed in the morning for a cuddle. Gemma has learnt to jump from one sofa to another so she can sit with whoever she feels like. She is definatley the Princess of the House! I have decided to move to a new house now that Gemma is growing so she can have a yard to run in, it is also near a park so she will be able to meet some new puppy friends.
Mum took me to Tasmania on the plane and it was snowing! I got to play in the snow with Grandma's dogs Maddsion and Odie, I got snowballs stuck to my fur! It was so much fun! I played catch the snowball with mum - she would throw a little snowball in the air and I would jump up and catch it! Lucky mum didn't shave off all my fur before we went! Its supposed to be spring here! Snow in spring is quite unusual I'm told!
If you copy and paste you can see some other pictures of me in the snow!
Wow its been some time since the last update!
I'm so happy today I went swimming in the ocean, I love to swim which mummy thinks is funny because I'm such a small lil thing (thats what she says anyway - I think she is just so tall it makes me look small!!!)
When mummy walks down to the water I go with her and walk straight in and start swimming, I dont need to be asked twice! I love the ocean so much! Its not cold and its very easy to swim and float around in the salty water.... although its not so good when it gets in my mouth or my nose!
I have a little boogie board which I stand on and sometimes I can surf on a wave. Mummy let me float away a little bit and a big wave knocked me off the boogie board! I was a bit scared because my head went under water but I got back up on the boogie board for some more fun!
I want to link to some pictures which you can copy and paste to open up a picture of me swimming in the ocean! I hope you like them!
I was so excited when mummy Carly came home from her big trip in America that I forgot to update!!! Mum had so much fun there but she said she missed me a lot and wished I was able to go with her and meet her friends! She went to Petsmart - which we don't have here in Australia - and got some really nice books about me and she got a special car booster seat so I can see out of the window without mummy worrying I will slide around and hurt myself! I haven't tested it out yet but it looks like fun! Now the one thing she got which I'm not too fond of is the cheerleader hair... I will post a picture of it - I look like a cabbage patch doll (well thats what someone else said - but its true!!!) Ok well I'm going to have a nap now infront of the heater - its cold here in Aussie - Grandma said it was snowing at her house! I want to see snow - maybe mum will take me for a drive to see some..... Sniff you later pup pals *fluffy puppy hugs*
