Arrival Story:
Alex was abused until someone stole her and turned her over to the Birmingham Humane Society. She had been burned on her chest, legs, paws and nose and her whiskers pulled out. One of Andrea's co-workers adopted her, but sadly couldn't keep her in an apartment. Andrea and Henry were only dating at the time, but she called him to see if he might want a dog. Henry took one look at Alex (then known as Bailey) and it was love at first sight. Alex's "Gotcha Date" is December 18, 1998; she was approximately six months old then. She became ill right after Henry got her and almost died. With lots of advice from Henry's father and the Montevallo vet and lots of love from Henry and Andrea, she survived to become the perfect picture of health. Incredibly, other than a few scars, Alex shows no sign of her rough start in life. She loves children (They drop food, you know!) and is very friendly and outgoing. Henry spent lots of time socializing her and lavishing attention and affection on her when it was just the two of them. Alex now shares her home with Henry and Andrea (Mommy and Daddy), baby sister Simone (a kitty) and big brother Zeke (a Newfoundland mix from the streets of North Birmingham.)
