Arrival Story:
I volunteer at the Bloomington Animal Shelter, and one day I was there to just look at all the animals, when I came across a litter of puppies. Out of the large litter, only 2 of them were black, the rest all tan, white, and red. I read on the kennel card that they were Black Labrador/Beagle mixes. All but one of the puppies came running towards me, eager to play, except one black male, who was to become Shadow. I fell in love with him and signed up to adopt him. When I came to pick him up, he looked at me and then turned his back and went to the bathroom, as if he was saying "You want me? Come and get me." We've been best friends ever since..:)

Shadow is a wonderful dog with the heart of a Labrador and the spunk of a Beagle. He's a perfect sized dog, not too big and not too small. Shadow loves sleeping on his queen sized heated/air-c0nditioned matress and playing catch with tennis balls. I never thought I'd rescue a mixed breed, I always wanted to just keep purebreds, but Shadow made me want to adopt more! He enjoys his home and his adopted brother and sister kitties, and I'm hoping he still has many more years of companionship to come!

Mommy came home late from a place she calls "high school" today. I was worried, I always look for her in the afternoon from the comfort of my mattress, but she did not come. I tried to sleep to take my mind off of it but the Labrador in me kicked in and I couldn't help it. Finally she came home and I was so excited, I jumped on her and gave kisses! She laughed, I know Mommy loves me. She explained to me that she had to stay a bit late to talk to some friends; she was happy so I was happy.

I could sense Mommy was upset about something today. She told me that she missed her boyfriend. Mommy is originally from Egypt and she met this thing called a "boyfriend" over the summer. She had to leave him and come back to Bloomington, though, and I could tell she wants to see him. She told me his name is Mohammed and is a few years older. He seems nice, he really likes dogs so he can't be that bad! Mommy showed me a picture but I thought it was something to eat so I licked it, she laughed and that made my tail wag. Mommy said that she was going to go inside and talk to Mohammed so I let her go with one final lick! She seems to love this thing called a "boyfriend". She has had him for 7 months, maybe I will get to see him!

My day was spent sleeping...sleeping...and more sleeping! Sneakers the cat came and slept with me on my mattress for a little bit, and I was too tired to chase him. He slept right up against me and I guess it wasn't so bad.... Lucy the cat does not seem to like me, she is scared of me. I tried to get her to loosen up, after all, I wouldn't hurt a fly! She just ran to her bed and slept there, oh well, maybe next time. It was a chilly day today, I could tell because the white powdery stuff Mommy calls snow was on the ground! I love snow! Maybe Mommy will let me run around and eat it, there's only a little bit on the ground so I don't want to miss it!

*Yawn* I'm so tired and I can tell Mommy is too. She has been working on the computer for a very long time now, but I just sit under her chair while she pets me. Lucy is sleeping on the chair next to us and Sneakers is on Mommy's bed, I'll have fun chasing him off of it so I can get my spot! Mommy looks like she is going to bed now, so I must go too.

Until then!
