Car rides. More than food, more than breathing. CAR RIDES.
Ear cleaning. Yuck.
Doesn't really like toys.
Freeze dried beef liver chunks.
The walk TO THE CAR. Or anyone else's car. The specific car doesn't really matter as long as it ends IN THE CAR.
Her poopy dance (I can't begin to describe, it's adorable though) and her "I've just spotted the leash in your hand" bunny hops.
I've always wanted to own a Saint Bernard, but I prefer to adopt my pets. When a Saint Bernard showed up in the shelter I volunteer at, I was very excited. After spending hours with her, I tried to adopt her. However, it turned out she did not like cats, and we have cats in our home.
Heartbroken, I started doing research online and found out about all the dog rescues. After talking to four rescues, we found a dog that might match our lifestyle pretty well at Saints of the West. We drove 5 hours to Reno to meet the dogs there. When we got there, the dogs were all barking their greeting, except for one gorgeous giant of a dog.
This was the same dog we'd been told would fit our lifestyle quite well, and after spending an hour with her, we were very much in love! We came back the next day, after sleeping on the decision, and drove Mishka home. She has only been with us for one day but already I can't imagine my life without her!
Takes a tickin, and keeps on lickin!

Mama has been really busy this week because my baby bunny brother was sick. Mom was visiting vets and specialists and having to force feed him and keep him warm.
This morning she took him to a rabbit specialist vet who told her that he likely had a tumor behind his eye. The eye needed to be removed as well as the tumor. The vet also told mom that sometimes when bunnies get sick, they will release a chemical into their bodies that causes them to have a seizure/heart attack and die.
Obi got a strong narcotic for pain relief, which stoned him out which was pretty funny to see! However, when he got home, and mom was getting his antibiotics ready, she heard a scrambling noise from the room. When she ran in, Obi was having a seizure.
She picked him up in her arms and he gasped his last breath and died. Mom's been crying all day and I've been trying to give her lots of kisses to cheer her up.
I'll miss Obi. He always had cucumbers for me to steal!

Mom and I were out for our daily walk the other morning. As we were coming home, further up our street, a man and a woman were screaming at each other at the top of their lungs. There was a small boy that clearly belonged to them, running between the two of them.
This upset me. I was not okay with this situation. Mom told me to ignore it and head up the driveway and go home, but I sat down and stared at them, letting Mom know that we needed to do something. She muttered something about getting her shot (why would she get shots?) and walked down the street to the people.
Of course I knew what *I* was doing, even if Mom didn't. I'm the rescue dog after all! I just put on my happy goofy face and busted right in and said hi. The people quit arguing immediately and everyone started petting me. That's the best! I love getting pet. Then the parents called their friends who lived in the nearby apartment complex and told them to bring their little boys out too so they could meet me!
In the end, there were 5 adults and three kids. The adults took pictures of the three boys standing next to me and everything! The two adults who had initially been fighting gave each other a hug and I knew my work was done. At that point, I was ready to go home.
As we headed back down the street towards home, mom whispered "You're a very, very good girl" and sounded somewhat awed. I just looked at her knowingly. Next time she'll trust my instincts!

Things are coming along pretty well. I'm starting to get the idea that mom wants me to ignore other dogs. I can't help myself sometimes, but I'm getting the hang of it! Mom is so proud of me. :D
Today we went to PetSmart and the trainer had us sit in the front of the store. All these dogs were walking in and out and I ignored almost all of them while mom had me do watch mes for hot dogs. Mmmmm hot dogs! After a while that got boring so I laid down and just watched how things went. Mom said that was totally fine because I wasn't reacting to the other dogs.
People keep coming over to talk to mom and pet me during training. I love the attention although sometimes I can tell mom gets a little frustrated because she's trying to train me but people keep wanting to talk to her. She did pretty good today talking and training at the same time.
Mom says that I came into her life to teach her how to be a calm person. She tends to stress out a lot when there is a lot going on so she gets overwhelmed, but she says she can't be a good alpha for me unless she learns to be calm during stressful situations.
