Arrival Story:
Giuseppe was dumped out of someone's car at a Cumberland Farms in Woonsocket, RI. He ran thru four lanes of traffic for hours, barely escaping oncoming cars and trucks. A former groomer at my work and her boyfriend at the time saw him dodging the traffic and realized SOMEONE had to get him out of that situation. Her boyfriend jumped out of their car and chased him around for over an hour. Finally Giuseppe jumped into the Blackstone River and Joe jumped in after him and caught him on a little island in the river. They attempted to post "Found Dog" posters, but the cashier at the convenience store informed them that someone dumped him out of their car hours earlier, so they brought him to their house and were going to keep him, but their cats beat him up. They took him to work the next day and I thought they had a little baby puppy because he is only 6 pounds and was even skinnier then. I fell in love! He was terrified and stayed in the warm grooming room for most of the day, but I just HAD to go see him. I bent down and talked to him and he actually came out of the cage for me and cuddled with me for quite a while. I brushed his little teeth which were (still are - needs to have more pulled, in fact) mostly rotten and trimmed his tiny nails. I told Jessica (the groomer that found him) that I'd take him home for the night because at the time I lived in an apartment with no pets so he'd have a quiet night, but I had no intentions on adopting him...wel that all changed very quickly that night. He absolutely REFUSED to sleep in the bed I made for him and kept jumping into MY bed with me. I finally had to give up because I had to be up early for work and couldn't fight him off any longer. By the time I got back to work the next morning, he had adopted ME and I had no choice. I couldn't be happier! He likes dogs, would never bite (as scared as he may be of new children and strangers, they could corner him and grab him and he does NOTHING!), he's a bit noisy at times, but he's completely loyal and would do ANYTHING for me and vice versa! :)
