Arrival Story:
I adopted Buddy from the Stockton animal shelter. I had been wanting a dog for a very long time, but it just hadn't felt "right" until I saw Buddy. He was terrified and wouldn't even stand up in his cage. He looked up at me with his big brown eyes. I asked the volunteer if I could take Buddy for a walk. He opened the cage and Buddy still refused to stand up. The shelter volunteer carried Buddy out to the lawn. Our first walk consisted of me holding a leash while Buddy just cowered in the grass. I got down on the ground with him and gave him lots of pets. He eventually started to sniff me. For whatever reason I decided I really wanted this dog! I took him home and he continued to refuse to stand up anywhere. I had to carry him in and out for his potty breaks. Eventually he built up courage and started going for walks with me. Buddy has turned out to be such a wonderful dog. He still is very shy around new people, but I could not have asked for a better dog!
