 Quick Bio:
Likes: Cuddling, being comfortable, sitting on cushions or surrounding himself in blankets. He loves sitting @ the window sill on his cushion watching the world go by, neck massages, looking out the car window, smelling flowers, warm pile of laundry

Pet-Peeves: Seeing other dogs get walked. He barks at them in front of his window all the time. Hates being home alone. Going to the vet. BATHS! He hates getting wet especially his feet. He also hates getting groomed so every once in awhile we cut his hair short.

Favorite Toy: His tiny teddybear doll that he carries around the house, he also loves socks and his rawhide. Thank God he does not chew on SHOES! Another favorite toy is anyone's arms. Because of his small size, he wrestles with it while standing up.

Favorite Food: Fruits and veggies (like his mama), potatoes, beef/chicken, any type of cheese, human food and occassionally his Science Diet and Caesar dog food. OH! He LOVES mini Dingo treats!!

Favorite Walk: Anywhere! As long as it's not going to the vet or the groomers

Best Tricks: I'm lucky he "sits" and does the "hand" trick. He's too spoiled to perform for others. He does what we call the "Teddy stretch". Not a trick but it's cute. When he's happy to see you, he'll stick his feet out on the back and crawl forward w/ his paws.

Arrival Story: For the longest time, I've wanted a cute little dog that I can carry anywhere. So finally I decided one day back in July 2001 to look on the internet to research local toy dog breeders. I considered Maltese, Yorkies and Pomeranians but as cute as they all are, I was always partial to Shih Tzus. So I was especially searching for a female white/brown or black/white shih-tzu. I found a litter of black and white that was just born in Vacaville. I couldn't wait and decided that this litter consisted of my new love. When I arrived, they had one tiny solid black male left. Teddy was the last of the litter. No one wanted him b/c he was all black. =( He was soo tiny that he wasn't even one pound when we got him. Needless to say, I immediately fell in love!! I decided to name him "Teddy Bear" because he resembled a small black cub as a puppy. I can honestly say we feel blessed to have him as part of the family and now he has us all wrapped around his little finger. .

Bio: Shih tzus are perfect for me. I've never known of any other breed that enjoys so much to be cuddled with. I love watching him make a comfortable spot in a pile of blankets, clothes or just about any cushiony thing. Sometimes even when it's not a fluffy pillow, for example, he'll see a piece of paper or a single sock on the floor and he'll sit on it because he thinks its a cushion of some sort. He'll hang out in bed all day if he could. If the person he was sleeping with gets up from bed he'll find someone else in the house thats still sleeping to cuddle with. I also LOVE Shih-Tzus' faces. Their short snout, squarish muzzle and the big wide heads; they remind me of teddybears (hence Teddy's name) and babies. As for Teddy, you can't really see his facial features b/c he's so dark, but his button nose and his eyes are perfectly set. He has perfect white teeth and long pretty lashes that extend outward. He goes around SIGHING deeply and pretty much thinking that he's HUMAN! He owns several articles of clothing; shirts, scarves and sweaters and at one point he even wore his hair tied in a top knot with a bow on his head. He weighs about 6 lbs and has a white spot on top of his head, chin and chest. He understands both English and Korean and sometimes tries to pretend that he doesn't understand us when we tell him to "come here". We also play hide and go seek and he always has to be "IT". When he does find us, he wags his tails and runs away wanting us to catch him. He hides his toys or his rawhide and we sometimes we find it in our fresh laundry or the piles of blankets he was once resting on. One thing Teddy loves to do when we hold him is to rest his head on our shoulder or he gets held like a baby on his back. He also sleeps on his back like a human and sometimes sleeps with his head on a pillow. When we get home, he whimpers and cries and stands up with his paws in the air wanting to get picked up and hugged so that he can welcome us home by kissing us. He is so smart that I sometimes think he's a human in disguise. I love him so much!

Teddybear just turned four years old about a week ago. I can't believe it's been that long since I've had him. He's been such a joy and a blessing to our home that those four years have zipped by. I love you Teddy!!!

I saw a poem and I thought it was so sweet:
When God had made the earth and sky
the flowers and the trees,
He then made all the animals
the fish, the birds and bees.
And when at last He'd finished
not one was quite the same.
He said, "I'll walk this world of mine
and give each one a name."
And so He traveled far and wide
and everywhere He went,
a little creature followed Him
until it's strength was spent.
When all were named upon the earth
and in the sky and sea,
the little creature said, "Dear Lord,
there's not one left for me."
Kindly the Father said to him,
"I've left you to the end.
I've turned my own name back to front
and called you dog, My friend."
