Arrival Story:
I had a Jack Russell named Maxine that was hit by a car on my birthday. She got out of the house because she saw the dog next door and decided to go after him. My husband went after her. The neighbor's dog and Maxine were running in circles, but then the neighbor's dog darted across our street and Maxine followed. My husband yelled to her, but she kept going. At the same time, a car (not from the neighborhood) was going past and the neighbor's dog got across the street, but Maxine was about 10 feet behind. She slammed into the car's wheel. The car stopped, opened its door and then took off. Maxine died of a broken neck within an hour. My sister couldn't stand how heartbroken me and my husband were so she, her boyfriend, my mother and father came over 3 days later with a West Highland Terrier puppy. She said it would help with our grief. My husband said it was too soon. My sister said she would take it back to the breeder. My husband said, well, we will try. Roxy was awesome from the minute she stepped into our house (and hearts). She must've known we were grieving. My husband spent the first few days, just giving her basic care. He was trying not to get attached (yeah right)! That didn't last long! Today Roxy follows him everywhere he goes. When she sits in the window and he coming up to the house, her tail not only wags, but it spins!! Only for him! He takes her for a walk every single day, rain or shine, hot or cold. She is such a joy to be around. Everyone loves her. I can't imagine life without her. And on top of it --- she's is so-o-o cute!!
