Birthday: December 12th 2008 Likes: Going for a ride in the car. Pet-Peeves: Not being with the rest of the pack of dogs in the household. Favorite Toy: His water toy that he fetches in the surf at the beach and at the lake. Favorite Food: Anything you give him. He's a real chow hound. Favorite Walk: At the park of course Best Tricks: Catching his Basketball in mid air. And leaping off the ledge at the lake retrieving his water toy. Arrival Story: I work for an independent pet store. The owner of the pet store is also the director of a no kill Rescue. Recently someone had turned in their pregnant Golden Retriever into the rescue. I mentioned to my boss that i was interested in adopting one of the puppies. Then one week later when i came into work she mentioned that a family turned in an one year old AKC registered Golden Retriever a few days prior. I said that's great! Told her i would go to the shelter on my next day off. Two days later we went to meet him and fell in love immediately. One week later he came home. Has been home with us since Jan. 14, 2010. He fit into our pack like a charm. So glad i rescued him when i did. The kennel workers told me that when he was with them he would hide in the back of the kennel. When they approached him he acted as if they were going to hit him. They told me this after i adopted him. They asked if he had opened up after he got home. Hard to believe he acted that way. At our house he is a very happy, affectionate mellow dog. Was shocked to hear that he acted that way towards the rescue. Poor guy was terrified in the shelter. Was the only dog that didn't bark when anyone new came into the kennel area. Still to this day he still hasn't barked. Bio: He is a wonderful dog. The most mellow Golden I've ever met. He is very attached to his new family. Whenever we leave the room he follows. Then lays down at our feet. Is also very attached to other dogs in the household. Looks to them for reassurance. He has recently gone camping with us to both the lake and the beach. He is a total water dog. If any of his family members go into the water he gets worried and has to go in after them. Then he also just LOVES to fetch his water toy. He can go for ever if we let him. He is so good that he doesn't even need a leash when we're camping just stays by his family and never thinks to ever wander off. Is such a perfect dog. Can't believe anyone would throw him away like that. Everyone who meets him at the camp ground sure hope they can someday find a dog just like him at the shelter. But i tell everyone is a very special dog. Is one of a kind. I've Been On Dogster Since:
