Arrival Story: Samson's plane was a whole three hours late! We got a hotel to stay the night in Chicago, and the people at Delta even stayed late past their shift so he could get to me as soon as possible, and gave me a call when the plane was on their way. Great people working there. Anyway Samson slept well that night, cried very little, and woke me whenever he needed to go outside.

Bio: Samson is an American Alsatian. While this breed originally began as a sort of "designer mutt" with a cross between a German Shepherd and an Alaskan Malamute (it is important to note that even at that point, this was all planned breeding to get the kind of dog known as the American Alsatian today) it has evolved into a life-long project with a strict breeding code, breed standards, and breed-specific registry. Some of the major breeds that went into making these dogs are of course the German Shepherd, Alaskan Malamute...English Mastiffs have as much say in them as the Malamutes...also Great Pyrenees and Antolian Shepherds. The dogs do breed true to each other.
So there's my little plug for the breed :). They are definitely very laid back and easy to get along with...and very attentive to body language and voice. Samson learns things SO quickly. Sometimes I feel like it is less us figuring out how to communicate with him, and more him trying to figure out how to communicate with us.
