Beggin' Strips, anything he can chew on
Thunder, loud noises, fingernail clippers, having to sit and wait before being fed
Moo - a stuffed cow, a green rubber ball, and a nylabone
Anything mom makes for doggies to eat, raw chicken
Anywhere, though he would prefer to go with dad on bike rides so he can get all of his exercise in
Sit, down, shake
My husband has always wanted a GSD and his boss ran across one who was in a shelter. He had been treated for heartworms and all we found out is that he was rescued from a high kill shelter and before that was just found wandering around. We arranged to meet him and have him and Roscoe meet and then we took him home.
Over the past couple of weeks, we have become painfully aware that Wolfgang was abused by a male in his past and that he has had no discipline or training. So, we are working with him slowly but surely as we have confidence that he will mature into a fine GSD. *Update* November 23, 2010 - Wolfgang has finally completely warmed up to us and trusts us fully. He still has some phobias (thunder, anything that makes a small clicking noise like fingernail clippers) and he is leary of males he does not know, but he is a sweet boy and absolutely adores us and his brother, Roscoe. He just wants to play and get attention. It is rare that he is in a bad mood or a couch potato (unlike Roscoe..lol). He knows sit, down, and shake and is working on stay and leave it.
*Update 4-3-12* We helped Wolfgang to the Bridge last night. He was only 4 years old and lymphoma cut his life short. It is always tough to lose a beloved pet, but losing Wolfgang seems incredibly unfair given what he went through in his first year and a half of life, before he came into our lives. Wolfgang gave us an incredible amount of love and loyalty. Last January, he started to cling to me more. Two weeks later we found out we were expecting our first child. Wolfgang new before we did ;). Once the baby arrived, he slept in her room, right next to her crib. He knew she was the newest member of our family and he was going to be as devoted to her as he was us. I had so looked forward to him helping us raise her, him being her best friend and her loyal guardian. I know he will still look out for her, though we cannot see him. Our hearts are broken, but we know he is healthy now and will greet us with a wet, sloppy kiss again one day.
What's this? Can I smell it? Can I have?
