Arrival Story: After weeks of constant searching for just the right Rottweiler to adopt, I finally adopted C.J. in March of 2009. He came home with kennel cough - not a big surprise - and managed to contract giardia, neither of which were a big deal to treat. However, after about two months at home, I learned that C.J. was heartworm positive. He most likely had contracted it before entering the shelter, but because it takes 6-8 months before the disease shows positive on a test, he tested negative at the shelter and didn't start to show symptoms until he had been with me for a while. Although the 3 month course of treatment was both grueling and expensive, it was completely worth it. C.J. is now a completely healthy, happy dog!
Bio: C.J.'s a smart guy and we love training and learning new things together. He's sailed through three different levels of obedience training and passed his Canine Good Citizen test on January 26th, 2010. We've been taking agility classes since October '09, which he just loves (with the exception of the teeter - which he really hates). We also started doing Rally Obedience in March '10.
