Arrival Story:
My first owner had to move and couldn't take me with him. I was very sad, but then Donna at Helping Paws found me at the pound where I might have been put to sleep, but she made sure that didn't happen! Then she took to my foster home. I had great caregivers who loved me, and helped me regain my self-esteem. They also had an Akita that I got to play with and sleep with every day. The teenager there was so cool! She was taking me to obedience class, and I was trying to do a really good job! They said I was a quick learner. Then, in January, I met my new "furever" parents. They brought Levi with them, and we all got along so well that they took me home with them. Levi and I rode in the back seat and got along great sleeping in the back seat. Mom said that we were almost home, but I couldn't help it, I threw up in the back seat. My new parents did not get mad, and I wasn't in trouble. They just felt bad for me and creatively got me out of the car so I didn't get all messy. Levi was even compassionate about my faux pas! I think I am really going to like my new family! I will keep you posted in my diary.

Can't wait for Christmas this year! My bestest friends are coming to visit me this year. They always give me lots of snuggle time!!!
My humans have decided that I am part Border Collie/Pointer and part CAT!!! They say this is because I sleep most of the time, I don't bark when the doorbell rings, and I don't jump up and run out to greet them when they come home. I just stay on the bed. Apparently this is how cats act. They tell me I am supposed to want to play ball, chase frisbees, and be active all the time, but I prefer to be a lazy couch potato!! To me, it is just the best way to be. When I can get them to be lazy and snuggle with me, then I am in heaven!!
I get to hang out with my brother Levi, who lives with Grandma and Grandpa, at least once a week. I like playing with him a lot. We even get to run and play with other dogs -- which, if I have to be active, is my favorite -- when we go to Doggie Daycare at the Dog Spot Hotel. It is the best, and the humans there take really good care of us! They really keep an eye on us to make sure we don't get too rowdy! I love it there!
Well, I need to get back to my nap, so I am going to go now!

Well, I have been with my new family for exactly one year as of today! It was this time last year that we were on our way home (about an hours trip) and within two miles of home, when I puked in the backseat of the car!!!
It had also snowed at our house in Florida, but my family was coming to get me so they missed it! My Mom was grateful -- she hates snow AND was so happy to be getting me!!! I don't even know what snow is......
My family loves me in spite if my car sickness, and have even found music to help me (Through a Dog's Ears -- Driving Edition). I like it and, as long as the windows are open a little, I seem to do better. My family hasn't been brave enough to take me on a trip longer than 30 minutes though......
Border Collies are known for their high activity levels. Mom says I am the laziest border collie she has ever met. The dog she used to have liked to play ball, and I am not impressed with the ball at all. Mom loves me any way though, and we play other games. I also like to sleep on the bed in the guest room a lot. Life is good!!
I am lucky because I get to go to doggy daycare where I get to play with lots of fun other doggies! Playing with other dogs is WAY MORE FUN than playing with a dumb old ball! And, I get to play all day!! Then, I sleep extra long, and really good on those nights. It is so cool!!
My brother Levi comes to visit at least once a week, and I like those visits a lot. It is weird to have an older brother who is so much smaller than me, and lives at a different house. I love when he comes over!!! But, it is nice to have Mom and Dad to myself when he leaves too!
It has been a great year and I know that my new family loves me very much because I am now officially spoiled rotten!!!! Afterall, I am just a
40 pound lap dog who loves to snuggle!!!

Well, it's official! I am in perfect health!!! All my latest tests say I am "normal," whatever that means. My bilirubin is where it should be and we are all so very happy! I didn't like the tests much, but all the people at vet's office tried to be as gentle and nice as possible so I still like them.
Mom and Dad are especially happy that I am able to play hard and go to daycare to play with other dogs once a week. They were worried about me, but I am in great shape. We think that all the changes I had to deal with might have just thrown my system off a little bit.
We are having a great time, and my parents say I am doing a really good job. They tell everyone how well I walk on a leash, and I am getting better and better about coming when they call me -- especially when I know they have treats! I usually get to see Levi at least once a week, and sometimes he is at daycare when I go there as well. We go to Just For Pets and have a ball!
If you sit on the floor, I will come over and curl up in your lap! Mom says I am a snuggle bunny, but I keep telling her, "Duh, woman, Hello! I am a dog!" She just loves to hug and love me!
Well, I better go, one of my toys is calling me!
