Arrival Story:
I always wanted a small dog, seeing that we always had Pit Bulls or American Staffordshire Terriers. The number one dog that was on the top of my list was a Minature Pinscher. Long story short, and many ads and phone calls later we found a great breeder! However, from the looks of everything she had the typical Minature Pinscher at her "Pinscher Farm". You know, the usual black and brown, light brown or fawn? Not to mention none of the dogs really caught my eye. Until I caught site of the breeders " #1 Dog". I wanted her the minute I saw her. However, the woman constantly told me over and over again that 'Lady' was going to be put in show's just like her father was. Yet being the stubborn, determined and hard headed child - teenager - that I am I wasn't giving up at all! But I left and told her I'd come back after talking with my parents. I went back the next day, and the breeder was there, standing in her lawn with the dog I wanted in her arms flaunting her back and forth with the dirtiest smug on her face. That face that goes, "Yeah, I got what you want. But am I going to let you have it? Ha! Fat chance." So I carried on with my time, searching the backyard; looking over the crowd of Pinscher's at my feet, jumping and licking my hands. The breeder came over, yet and still flaunting the prize in my face. "I bet you found what your looking for," she said. (Her choice of words were oddly ironic) "Of course I have," I told her. She went on about how she has the best Minature Pincsher's around town and that noone can resist them until I cut her off, "I want the one in your hands." Her head turned to the side like a confused puppy. "Girl, I told you -" "Any offer. I'm ready." "Three Thousand Dollars." Crickets went off in my mind as the puppies kept tugging at my pants legs. "Three Thousand Dollars?" I repeated "I'll give you . . . less then that." "Two Thousand Twenty Five." I had her where I wanted her, I thought. She's negotiating with me. Good Job, Ana. But is she serious? "Lower?" Her head sunk down. "Girl, I can tell that you REALLY want my dog," - was it the desperation or begging that got her? - "let me give it thought. Come back Sunday alright?" So - basically, more begging and hassaling - I got this woman down from 3k to $800. That's how Lady came home with me. Fragile. Sweet. Calm. Shy, Lady. She loves her carrier purse and sweaters that I hate to put her in. But with the winter where I am, the temperatures are brutal and I don't want a frozen puppy when we go for walks, right? Gotta
