Arrival Story:
Well, for all of you following Rocky's progress: he's now a permanent resident of my pack. For those who are just tuning in: Rocky had been at the rescue group's kennel for 2 years prior to my fostering. Rocky had the tendency to bark at those coming to look at him while he was in the kennel, this of course is not appealing to potential adopters. He had been over looked my many and when I heard about his story I felt compelled to foster this poor guy and get him used to home life. While in my home, his personality has blossomed. He's come out of his shy shell and is more confident. He also learned to live with cats! He also learned to meet and play with other breeds (this can sometimes be difficult for retired racers since they've never seen non-greyhound dogs before in their lives). After 6 months of fostering, I was hoping he'd have enough confidence to deal with kennel life and find a home. Unfortunately, he just doesn't do well in the kennel environment....so...you guessed it! He's forever home with me!

Bio:
Rocky is a fabulous pet! He has come out of his shell even further than before. I take him to a Beginners Agility class and he LOVES it. Learning the obstacles has built his confidence. He's out going and more curious about his surroundings, he'll even offer behaviors, trying to figure out what he can do toe get the treats! He has a blast when I get out the clicker and we do free shaping. When we go out side, he runs over to the car, looking at me as if to say, "can we go to class?" He loves playing with our beagle friends and meeting new dogs at the dog park. Rocky is the best foster-failure ever! Since moving to Salt Lake City, he especially likes to play in the back yard with the pack and go for walks in the parks. He's as much a Mamma's boy as he's ever been.

Summer in Seattle

A lot has happened since my Mama helped me blog.

In February 2009 we all relocated again, but to Seattle. We were lucky to find a place to rent that has a fenced in yard and allowed us greyhounds. Since then we've visited Discovery Park, Green Lake Park, gone camping on Long Beach where we enjoyed running on the beach, went camping up in B.C. and checked out Mt. St. Helens last weekend.

We really like it here because it's cool enough most of the time to go for long walks in the neighborhood. We meet another greyhound and hang out a few weeks ago, Daphne. She is a very nice girl, I like her so much I drool when I sniff her! She and her family came over a couple of weeks ago and my Mama made tasty cheese and carrot "Pup cakes" and yummy whole wheat dog crackers.

I love it when she gets it in her to cook us goodies. This week she made us whole wheat, turkey, parsley dog cookies. They smelled so good when they were cooking! I work hard for those treats!

My Mama worries about me as I'm slowing down every month it seems. I'm on an old man feeding schedule. That means I don't eat all of my meals all at once. I'll eat half my breakfast, and then be ready for the rest of it by late morning. Usually I'm interested in dinner but like to have tasty snacks throughout the day.

I have a dog bed in the office next to my Mama's desk and one in the kitchen so I have a soft spot to lie down where ever she is. I'm so spoiled, I have her wrapped around my little paws!

Life in Salt Lake City

I've been living in Salt Lake City for a year now and it has been greyt! We have been living in a three bedroom house with a nice big fenced in back yard. I have liked Salt Lake City very much. Mamma takes us on walks in Liberty Park with the local greyhound rescue group and that is always fun. When the weather is nice, we go on morning walks around the block, or night time walks when it is to hot out. I have been enjoying being in Utah.

Our next adventure is to Seattle. The whole family is moving up there by the end of February and I can't wait! I had so much fun visiting our greyt aunt last year. She took me, my mamma and Gramma Cherri to a really nice beach on Whidbee Island and that was a lot of fun. My mamma says that Seattle will be a great home for us because of all the dog parks, dog beaches and dog friendly things to do.

That's about it for news in my corner of the world,
Woof!
