Captain Red sent me a note and asked if I would go to dinner with him on December 23, 2009. He didn't mean that evening, but I was not sure and responded with....tonight? He said he had in mind dinner some other time but we could go out for eggnog and I suggested Pawbucks.....what used to be our favorite hang out.
I thought he must be feeling sorry for me since I was alone and it was almost Christmas Eve so I dressed rather casual in jeans and a white button up the front shirt.....I looked okay, but when I arrived at Pawbucks and saw Red, he looked so handsome in his winter white three-piece suit.
We had some eggnog and began to talk about old times. It made me sad, but I tried not to show it. However, Red is very sensitive to my feelings and knew right away. Red was the only one I ever had such intense feelings for, but I was not sure how to tell him I still felt that way about him.
He must have sensed that too, because just moments before midnight, he asked me to marry him. Without hesitation, I said yes. I knew I was back where I belonged and with the man of my dreams.
We began talking about when we wanted to be married and both of us agreed that a winter wedding would be our first choice. I wanted it to be so very special so it needed to be a speical day and I said it is a shame that New Year's is so close because it would be the perfect day for our wedding.
We continued talking about how we wanted it to be and decided with New Year's Day only a week away, we had the connections to pull it off.
Thus began a frenzy of activities to make our dream come true!
I believe in magic and I believe in Fairytales. Trust me, they do come true!!
I love you Red. I always have, and I always will.
