Likes:
People! Out on the farm, she just dosen't get enough of them, and over reacts, being jumpy and mouthy seeking attention.

Pet-Peeves:
Apparently, other dogs. There are dogs in the kennel type enviroment at the farm, but she does not play with them. Occasionally, they will fence fight.

Favorite Toy:
Balls gone wild! Balls drive her crazy, she often overshoots them when she is chasing them out of doors.

Favorite Food:
Nikki exists on dry kibble. I am bringing in high value roast beef treats, and when feeding her dinner away from the farm, mix her kibble with canned dog food to use as reinforcing treats.

Favorite Walk:
As this is written, we have taken no real walks. We are learning loose lead walks, but so far, the walks are just outside potty breaks. She is becoming used to a lead though.

Arrival Story:
Nikki is not living with me, yet we are going to work together to find her forever home. She is an AARF (Animal Adoption & Rescue Foundation) dog, and is available of adoption within a 30 mile radius of Richmond, Va. ********************************** ******** Nikki came into my life as she was brought up to the adoption stand, huffing and puffing on a Gentle Leader. Her handler was doing about the same amount of huffing and puffing as the two struggled into the stand area. This was one of those times where you catch a glimpse out of the corner of your eye, and then do that famous double take; "Wow, who's that good looking blond!?!" ********************************** ********* The answer; She's one of the dogs from "The Farm". AARF is a home based rescue. The group does an admirable job finding foster HOMES for almost all of their homeless dogs. (Dogs in HOMES learn how to be a great house pet as the live with their foster parents.) ********************************** ***** Sometime an AARF dog might find itself in a commercial boarding kennel while waiting for a foster to become available. But some few that are reactive to other dogs, or have other behavior issues end up on "The Farm". I had never been to The Farm before, but I had seen a few of those dogs before at the adoption stand, and yes, they all seemed to have some sort of "issue". Nikki is dog reactive. This makes it hard to place into one of the foster homes simply because almost all the fosters already have dogs of their own. ********************************** ******** That first day, as I saw Nikki, I took it upon myself to re-rescue this dog.
