Arrival Story:
Blou was found as a stray and brought to me to see if I could find his owner. When I eventually did, I called the owner and said,"I have your dog, but he's such a nice dog, I'll bet you don't want him back." The owner answered, "To tell you the truth I don't."

Bio:
In the last 15 months, Blou has raised and donated over $9,000.00 for emergency medical care for other pets through the sale of his picture on notecards. He has fan clubs in grade schools in neighboring states who write to him, and when he is at my store (all the time it's open) he has a constant stream of visitors. The last year has been a good one for Blou. He has served as the model for the sheep dog in the "Save the Sheep" version of Wonder Pets on the Nickelodeon network. He also appeared in Dog Fancy magazine in August and serves as the model in an ad in the winter issue of Fido Friendly magazine. His donations to help other pets have reached the $16,000.00 mark as of December 2006. Blou has continued his work to help other animals and for the past year he has been the mascot for the Letters From Home Program which sends letters and gift packages to GIs all over the world. He now has pen pals in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, and aboard 4 ships at sea. He is proud that the Program is sharing the President's Volunteer Service Award which it received with him. Check out his photos to see him wearing the award.

Though I've been at the Rainbow Bridge for 14 months, I'm still doing my job. My picture was featured in a ad in Dog Fancy Magazine for February. This I watched for because I knew the ad
would be running in that issue. However, I was surprised when a friend who owns a store that has a few pet related items called to tell my friend that he had seen my picture used twice in the current issue of the Pet Products International Catalog.

Blou is gone; I hope he won't mind my adding a few thoughts to his diary. I just want to say that letting him go was one of the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life. He was such a good dog, though, that he made even the end better than I ever thought it could be. He went quickly and peacefully without pain. I think that God was doing his Christmas shopping on the 17th of December and needed something really special for someone up there so he took my dog. Though I hurt so badly, I know that Blou doesn't hurt at all and that I'll see him again because someone told me that Heaven is the place where all the dogs you've ever loved come to meet you. I thank God
for every minute Blou and I spent together and for taking him before he hurt.

This morning I couldn't get up, as a matter of fact I couldn't even move, so we went to see my doctor. She thinks that I had a stroke last night and that I wouldn't improve. I had had a great time for the last 8 years in my forever home and I let my friends know that it was time for me to go to the Bridge to wait for them, so they helped me get there. Yesterday no one would have known that I was sick and today, I left beautifully and without suffering any pain. I'm glad they loved me enough to let me go. Though I'm gone, my spirit, my energy, and my friends will continue my work of helping other animals, and I'm going to keep my eyes open up above to watch for a successor who can help my human friends the way I did.
