Arrival Story:
After about 2 years without a dog in our family, my family and I decided to adopt a puppy. The shelter we chose was Hearts United in Auburn, NE. On November 8, 2009, we took a trip down to HUA to look at dogs. The first area we went to we saw these two playful and sweet puppies. One was a miniature schnauzer (Peepers) and a bloodhound mix (Wrangler). All four of us decided they were the dogs for us. A week later we took them home!

Four years ago, a beloved friend of my family gave us her wheaten, Conan, because she had a brain tumor and was no longer able to care for him. After about six months of having him in our household, Conan got sick. Real sick. After visit after visit to the vet, we found out Conan was in kidney failure. He only had one kidney because he was born in a puppy mill, which is a mass pet breeding "factory". The best thing for Conan was to put him to sleep, so of December 9th, 2007, my family said their goodbyes and Conan was uthinized. It was devastating and after a lonely two years of grieving, we decided to give a shelter dog a chance and adopted from a local rescue group.
On November 1st, 2009, my family of four crammed into a car and drove to Hearts United in Auburn, NE to find our perfect dog. The first area they lead us to was the puppy area. There we saw the two most gorgeous pups, Wrangler and Peepers. Wrangler is shepard mix and Peepers is a schnauzer. We knew immediately they were the perfect dogs for us and a week later, we took them home.
So far, life with them is perfect! Wrangler loves his home so far! He is just a ball of happiness all day from when he first gets up and takes his morning tinkle to when he has his final treat of the day and goes to bed. He also enjoys snuggling in your lap and giving you "the eyes" that say "thank you for bringing me home".
