Sun Sign: Quick Bio:
 Birthday: December 20th 2004
Likes: Food.....with a capital F---------and he's not picky-----he'll eat anything that goes in his bowl including medicine when needed.

Pet-Peeves: Any dog that vies for our affection other than Zena----and daylight savings time, when he has to get used to the new feeding time. Oh, Tommy wants me to add---nail trimming---he says that's his #1 pet peeve!

Favorite Toy: Most anything that is edible------he'll play Frisbee with Zena if it's super cold outside, but only for a short while.

Favorite Food: Tommy loves all food--------but his three top drools are for: daddy's smoked salmon, rib-eye steak and from the doggy world: canned duck dog food...he literally *cries* when he gets a whiff of it!

Favorite Walk: Anywhere that he doesn't have to cross paths with another dog is a happy walk for Tommy.

Best Tricks: Kiss and snuggle (for hours......the snuggling part ;-)

Arrival Story: We had lost our precious German Shepherd girl after 12 years and a co-worker who volunteered at a rescue for sporting breeds mentioned Tommy to us...it was too soon...then just before Christmas, this lovely woman and a true advocate for animals, brought up Tommy's plight again---and I realized he was meant for us--------I wish I had been able to open my heart up while I grieved (I still grieve, but it's getting better)------as Tommy was taken into the rescue from a deplorable situation (chain dog) just a day or two after we lost Sidney------and I later found out that he had been crated nearly the whole three months after being taken in because they had so many dogs at the rescue and the other dogs picked on Tommy (he's a lover, not a fighter...he's just beginning to stand up for himself after a year of stable living.)
My husband's response after seeing Tommy hop out of the back of my SUV was "WTH?"----his coat was in awful shape and he looked wild-eyed with his first taste of freedom in months---but in 60 seconds the HUGE heart that Tommy wore on his sleeve won my husband over----and he recalled instantly to any name we used (Manny was his rescue name, but he'd respond to ANYTHING if we even looked like we wanted him to come to us) He has brought us so much comfort and love!!!

Bio: With the addition of Zena to our family, Tommy is learning to play after months of watching her fetch and catch the frisbee. He finally wants to join in--------with his heavy GSD coat, he prefers to exercise early in the morning or long after the sun has set. He is our shadow and quiet companion (unless there are little wild animals, like hummingbirds, that need to be chased out of the yard ). All he asks for is food, to be brushed (he loves to be groomed and fawned over)and to share our bed until we fall asleep and then he moseys on over to a nearby couch where he can spread out until the wee hours when he climbs back into bed with us before the alarm goes off. In return, we're given unlimited affection and loyalty-----if we're sick or having a bad day, he'll curl up with us for HOURS, never leaving us, never making any demands...just a gentle reminder from him if feeding time is approaching. He is a very special soul!
