Arrival Story: I was planning to be married to a man with two sons and imagined being a family with someone always around the house to be with a dog. I wanted a small, shorthaired dog but not a yappy one or a high maintenance one. I looked at many ads in the classifieds, hounded the animal shelter and saw many sweet dogs but had reservations until I finally saw an ad for Lily in the classifieds. She was six months old, housebroken and very lovable and we both bonded instantly. As it turned out, the hoped for family was a big mistake so Lily and I have been alone which is much better, though she keeps me at home as she is very unhappy being alone. Lily and I have moved four times in her lifetime and lived at the beach and desert in California and in cold, rainy Ohio which we agreed was not for us. Each move was a big adjustment for us but we each help the other. We are very happy.

Bio: In December of 2001 Lily ran into a busy street and was clipped by a car. She ran yelping into the night and I searched the neighborhood calling her for three days. I posted signs on poles for several blocks around, called the animal hospital and shelter daily and knocked on doors asking strangers if they had seen her. After three days I had a phone call from someone who had seen my posters saying they had seen a poster for a dog found several blocks away. When I found the poster, the address was a converted shed behind a delapidated alley house. Two men answered the door andbrought out my Lily. She had followed them home from a park and they had been kind to her and let her sleep with them. I offered them a reward and they refused saying they just wanted her to be reunited with her owner. I gave them a check anyway and they said now they could have Christmas. It was a merry Christmas for all. Lily was lost again when we moved to the desert and had not yet moved into our new house so she didn't know where we lived. She was seen on a golf course and I spent 4 frantic hours running over the golf course calling her. I was advised to give up by dusk because the coyotes were sure to have found her but I continued running and calling and finally found her in an arroyo, dazed, exhausted and bloody. So you see, Lily and I have been through a lot together.

Dear Diary,
I was lying in the studio quietly watching my human paint, when KA-BOOM!!! A huge crashing noise scared me and hurt my ears so I blasted out the door and tried to find a place to hide but the sky was very dark and the rumbling noise happened again. I managed to squeeze under the fence to find a place safe from the noise and water that fell from the sky. I ran and ran all night and my feet hurt and I was very frightened, tired, lost, thirsty and dirty. I know my human was looking for me all night and calling me. She was very sad and worried. Finally, the next morning it was light enough that I recognized some places I had been with my human and managed to find my way to my front door. My human picked me up and hugged me for a long time. I was very relieved to see her but hardly had the strength to wag my tail. I drank 2 bowls of water and went to bed next to my person. I slept most of the day yesterday and licked my paws whenever I was awake. I hope they feel better soon. I know I'm in for a bath but my human doesn't want to add more trauma until I'm feeling better.
I hope I can remember it's better to stay home with my lady even when the sky says"KA-BOOM!!!"

Dear Diary,
My human's friend came over to show us how to put more photos on my page. My human seems grumpy today because it rained and she couldn't play tennis plus she spent hours trying to put my picture on my dogster page and just couldn't. I was hoping to meet other dogs like me but only two dogs wrote to me. I think it's because the only picture on my page isn't very good (I was asleep at the time) and other dogs can't see how cute and funny I am. I wish someone could help my human get other pictures on my page.
I wish I had another dog friend.
