   Leave a bone for Shane ~In Memory~ 1982- 1997

Shaner, Shaner-Boy, Shane Richard

Quick Bio:

Shane loved to sit and look out the front window for hours. He also loved going for rides in the car.

Shane was the easiest going dog. He had no pet peeves. He would cry when we would leave him at home when we went out.

Favorite Toy:
His little sister, Molly.

Favorite Food:
Shane loved anything but green beans. He HATED them!

Favorite Walk:
Anywhere as long as there was a rabbit to chase.

Best Tricks:
He would sit pretty forever in order to get a treat.

Arrival Story:
We saw an ad in the paper for mixed breed puppies for sale. We took our kids, then 8 and 10 yrs. old, and let them have their pick. Out of all the puppies, Shane was the shyest. He was hiding under a table and our daughter, Mindy, fell in love with him.

As a puppy, Shane ate our couch, recliner, and our sons comforter. He hated being left at home alone! As he grew up, he grew in to the best dog in the world. He had the deepest, biggest bark. Everyone thought we had this huge dog! He had been going down hill for about a year. His eyes were clouded over, he had a very hard time going to the bathroom, he was losing weight and just wasn't our Shaner Boy anymore. The vet said it was time to let him go. My daughter and I took him and bought him a McDonald's cheeseburger and held him and loved him until the afternoon. Then we took him in to Dr. DeGraff and held him while he crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge. We will never find another dog as sweet and loving as Shane.

When I was about five years old we were on our way to visit Grama and Grampa at their house. We got stopped by a train. I got up in to daddy's lap and was just sitting there. All of a sudden I saw a rabbit! I was out of daddy's lap and out the window before mommy and daddy knew what was happening. I took off like a bolt of lightning. I could hear them yelling at me to come back, but I just had to get that rabbit. It was dark and I totally disappeared from their sight. They were in a complete panic when out of the dark I appeared trotting back to the car. I had my tail tucked between my legs clear up to my chin. I knew I was in BIG trouble. They didn't yell too much.....they were just so glad I was okay. They were so scared I would get hit by the train I was running along side of. Needless to say, I never tried that stunt again.......but I still chased lots of rabbits.........and got in lots of trouble over it!!!
