We just learned that two of our Pup Pals, Harry and Mallory, recently lost their human mom who passed away a few weeks ago. Our thoughts and prayers go out to their human family. We hope that Harry and Mallory will be well taken care of and receive all the love and attention they deserve, now more than ever.

I'm 7 Years Old Today!

Today is my 7th birthday - whoo hoo!

Daddy made a birthday photo for my page and Momma has been saying "Happy Birthday" to me all morning and giving me a few treats, especially after I was a good girl and ate all of my breakfast. And I let Merlin know it was my birthday by chasing him all around the living room - heh!

I heard Momma mention something to Daddy about a t-o-y that's hidden somewhere so I'm looking forward to whenever that will happen today! Maybe I'll even find it before they do - BOL!

Happy May, Happy Spring, Happy Happy Everything!

Hello, friends! Hope this Spring weather is giving everyone an extra bounce in their steps!

I had another vet visit and gained a few more pounds - I now weigh 37.1 lbs - whoo hoo! I'm getting there, slowly but surely! I'm still on the Azathioprine every other day but I've been able to have hypo-allergenic treats from the vet's office - things have been going well.

I did develop a couple of "hot spots" so I'm on anti-biotics for a couple of weeks. Hopefully those will clear up soon.

I am definitely a happier dog - what a big difference a couple of months and a few pounds can make!

Time to celebrate! And this month is going to be a busy one! Momma's birthday is tomorrow, Cinco de Mayo is in a couple of days, next Sunday it's Mother's Day, then my birthday will be coming up, and finally Memorial Day weekend! Whew!

Hope you and your families find a little something to celebrate every day, too! =)

Thankful for Easter Blessings

Hello, my friends. Sorry I haven't been around much. Momma and Daddy have been spending more time with me and trying to help me get better.

The good news is that I'm off the Prednisone which seems to have been the culprit in my weight loss. I'm not eating as much but at least I'm keeping it down. Momma and Daddy have noticed that I'm starting to fill out a little bit and that I'm acting more like my normal self - being fresh, chasing Merlin, etc.

I had a quick vet visit yesterday and I now weigh 34.1 lbs - whoo hoo! That's a little over a 2.5 lb gain in a month! I still have a long way to go but things are looking good. I still have trouble sometimes walking up and down the stairs and trying to get on the couch, chair, or bed but I can do it on my own without being carried - hooray!

I want to thank all my Dogster and Catster friends, you truly are my Easter blessings for sending me words of encouragement, keeping me in your thoughts and prayers, and the sweet rosettes.

Hope you and your family have a joyous Easter holiday! =)

Tufts University Results

We visited Tufts University on Monday - that was the 2nd longest car ride I've ever been on! We went through tolls and the toll ticket takers/givers were very friendly, saying hello to me as I stuck my head out the window.

Tufts University is a HUGE campus but we found the small animal hospital just fine. There were lots of pets there already - dogs on one side and cats on the other, separated by a couple of walls. I got to see a lot of different kinds of doggies while we were waiting so that was a nice thing.

Once we were called, I was seen by a 4th year resident named Christina - she was very nice and I was nice to her until it was time to have my temp taken, then I tried to hide my hiney. I am very sensitive about that area but I made it through the temp check okay. They put me on a scale and I lost more weight - I'm down to 31.5 lbs.

Christina took some notes then returned with the Carrie, the vet. Carrie read the notes and talked to Momma and Daddy and confirmed that our local vet was doing a great job in diagnosing my IBD. Carrie wanted to have an x-ray done of my chest and a blood test just to make sure there's nothing else going on.

Carrie recommended that I change my diet (again) - this time I'm on venison and potato (dry kibble and canned wet food) - and to start weaning me off the Prednisone since that seems to be the main culprit in my rapid weight loss.

The chest x-ray turnd out okay, showing no obvious abnormalities -whew! The blood work results will come later in the week.

In addition to my IBD, Carrie noted that there could also be other underlying disease in the process - possibilities of autoimmune or even cancer so we're all hoping that this new diet and weaning me off my meds will help me gain some weight and back to my normal self. Momma and Daddy don't even want to think of the other possibilities right now.

Thank you again to all my friends for thinking of me - all your kind words, thoughts, and prayers are helping us all get through this one day at a time. =)

Lost Another Pound AND Got Sick Again =(

I had my follow up vet visit last week and I lost another pound within 2 weeks of my last visit- I'm now down to 33 lbs. The vet advised Momma and Daddy that the weight loss could be attributed to the Prednisone medication so instead of taking that 2x a day, I would only need to take it once a day for a week, then every other day (just like the Azathioprine). I'm still taking antacids to help ease my stomach. The vet also wanted to slowly add rabbit and potato kibble to my diet to help add calories and weight to my now very skinny frame. The vet also said that if I continued to lose weight that she would recommend a specialist for us to visit so they could take a look at me to see if they could find anything different.

A week into my new diet routine, I got sick again. Momma and Daddy are very sad and heartbroken since I was doing so well and had not thrown up since last December. The vet asked Momma and Daddy to stop the new kibble, remain on the bland diet kibble with just a little bit of the rabbit and potato wet food, prescribed an anti-nausea medication for me, and would let us know when she got in touch with a specialist.

The vet called us a few days ago and she made an appointment for me up at Tufts New England Veterinary Medical Center in North Grafton, MA for today.

Please say a prayer and wish me luck in the hopes that the staff at Tufts can figure out what's going on with me so they can help me get better.

p.s. We haven't been on the computer much due to what's happening with me but I want to thank all my friends for the rosettes I've received. Momma told me about them and it makes me smile. =)

Another Vet Visit

February 28th 2009 1:27 pm

I had a vet visit almost two weeks ago and I lost 3 more pounds - all within a month - not good. I weighed in at 35 lbs - a whole 10 pounds less than before I started getting sick. Momma and Daddy are getting even more worried about me. I've gotten so skinny that Momma said I look like one of the neglected dogs on tv and Daddy said I'm slowly wasting away. I sure hope something changes for the better and soon!

On a previous visit, the vet mentioned to Momma and Daddy that I may need to have some "exotic" foods introduced to me, something that I've never eaten before. As soon as the vet said "venison", Momma immediately thought of "Bambi" and hoped I wouldn't need to eat a raw diet. She would give Daddy the privilege of feeding me all the time if that was the case.

So on this visit, the vet decided that I could try some canned food to supplement my hypo-allergenic food to see if that would help me gain some of my weight back since I lost another pound - I now weigh 34 lbs. If it does, then there's also a dry food version of the canned food that I might be able to go on. If it doesn't, then the vet may need to refer me to a specialist to figure out what's going on with me.

When Momma and Daddy picked up the canned food and brought it home, imagine Momma's surprise that it would be rabbit and potatoes, not venison, in a can. Momma then shook her head while she thought of "Thumper" - BOL!

The good news is that I'm off my anti-biotics but on the flip side, I now have to take an antacid twice a day with 2 of my 3 meals. At least now Momma can hide the pills in the wet food and no more yucky/messy pill capsules! The best news is that I haven't thrown up at all since the end of last year - whoo hoo!

I'm headed back to the vet next week to see if the canned food is helping me - wish me luck! =)

Scope Results - Part II - Diagnosis

Hello again, my friends. First, I want to thank all of you for your thoughts, prayers, e-mails, and rosettes - they all helped our family get through this tough time.

Second, you'll be happy to know that the vet specialist found something in my biopsy - I've been diagnosed as having moderate Inflammatory Bowel Disease - basically an allgeric reaction - to what, they haven't figured that part out yet. I'm on 3 different medications: short term (anti-biotics and Prednisone) and long term (Azathioprine [Imuran]). And I'm on some new sensitive stomach food that I'm slowly being introduced to by mixing some of my current food with the new stuff.

Momma and Daddy are happy that I'm liking my new food and that I don't mind taking 2 of the pills (they're in tablet form) but I do not like my anti-biotics (in capsule form) - I spit that one more than once - BOL! They think they can hide that stuff in my food but I found it - heh! Now they need to hand feed it to me with some of my food to make sure I eat it.

There are side effects mentioned with the meds I'm taking but the only thing I've been doing is drinking and peeing a lot. I had 2 accidents in the house but that was expected due to one of the meds - I just need to remember to let Momma or Daddy know when I gotta go so they're not surprised - oops!

I still can't have any snacks or treats but hopefully one day I'll be able to have them again if I can get this IBD under control. Let the healing begin!

Thank you again, my Dogster and Catster friends! =)

Scope Results - Part 1

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Momma and Daddy picked me up from the vet on Monday and unfortunately, the scope specialist didn't see anything obvious that would cause me to keep getting sick. Momma and Daddy were somewhat disheartened to hear that news because they were hoping the vets would at least see SOMETHING, like if my stomach was irritated since that would most likely be an ulcer or irritable bowl disease - both treatable. The scope specialist did take some tissue samples and sent that off for a biopsy so hopefully that will provide some insight (paws crossed). Momma and Daddy are praying that we'll know by Friday if they found anything so they can start treating whatever it is I have and get me back to "normal."

Thank you again, my friends, for keeping me in your thoughts and words of encouragement - they mean a lot!

New Year, Same Problem

Happy New Year everyone! Hope y'all had a very nice holiday! Me and Merlin had a nice Christmas - we were spoiled with toys and new beds. I posted a Christmas Present photo album on my page - hope you like it!

Unfortunately, I got sick again right before New Year's Eve. Just when we all thought this bland kibble diet was going well, too. I had an ultrasound done on January 8th and thankfully, the vet didn't see any tumors or cancer so that was a HUGE relief to us all but I lost 2 lbs so that's not so great.

The vet did say I could have 1 of 3 things: worms (!), irritable bowel disease, or an ulcer. The vet told Momma and Daddy that the next step would be endoscopy so they could check out the inside of my abdomen to see if it's irritated and hopefully try to figure out what's going on inside that keeps making me sick. They sent me home with a couple of pills to get rid of the worms if I have any. Momma and Daddy couldn't think of a reason why I would have worms but who knows what's going on with me? Momma wishes I could talk sometimes.

I'm scheduled for the endoscopy for Monday, January 19th - please keep me in your thoughts as Momma always gets nervous when I have to be knocked out for any reason.

Thank you! =)

I was a Dogster "Daily Diary Pick" and we missed it - aack!

As you know, I have been sick on and off and well, Momma got a virus this weekend so she wasn't doing so well either. She's usually on top of things, checking e-mails, updating me and Merlin's Dogster and Catster pages, etc, but she was "out of commission" over the weekend, as she puts it. Imagine her surprise when she finally had the chance to catch up on e-mails and read that my diary was picked as one of Dogster's featured diaries for yesterday, November 30th! Then she felt sad because she wasn't able to see my pretty face featured on Dogster's front page for my special day. =(

Oh well, Momma said she's keeping the e-mail and she'll try to do a special photo for me somehow to commemorate this wonderful acknowledgement.

Thanks, Dogster, for the special honor of being one of the "Daily Diary Picks"!
We're so glad we found Dogster and thankful for all the friends we've met here! =)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Not So Good News

Just when we thought I was back on track to getting healthy, I got sick again last week...5 times in a row in one day! Our regular vet was closed so Momma and Daddy brought me to the Farmington Valley Veterinary Emergency Hospital in Avon, CT. They were so worried about me and very thankful that there was an animal hospital that wasn't too far away.

At the animal hospital, I had my temperature taken (not fun!), blood drawn, and 2 x-rays done but there was nothing the vet could see as to why I was throwing up. The vet was trying to figure out what could be making me get sick so often - she suggested it could be anything from food allergies, Addison's disease, a foreign object in my belly, or the dreaded "C" word.

They gave me a shot for anti-nausea and some meds to take home but I wasn't allowed to eat anything. I hadn't eaten anything since 7 a.m. that morning and it was now 10 p.m. at night. Momma and Daddy felt bad for not being able to give me any food but they knew it was the right thing to do so I wouldn't get sick again.

The next day I went to my regular vet and they took my temp (again!) and drew more blood to check for the Addison's disease. The test came back as normal so they ruled that out, thank goodness. The vet gave Momma and Daddy some bland food kibble to feed me to see if that's more agreeable to my stomach and we'll need to check back with the vet in a month to see how I'm doing.

I sure hope this new kibble does the trick. The next step would be to do an ultrasound to see if there's anything in my belly that's not supposed to be there.

Please keep your fingers crossed for me - thank you, my friends! =)

Good News!

Hi, Dogster friends! I had my latest vet visit and it looks like the 3 feedings a day thing is working - I gained 5lbs! Whoo hoo!! Along with my fur growing back in from my late-in-the-season haircut, I'm starting to fill out and looking more like my "normal" self. Momma and Daddy are so relieved! I just need to gain a few more until I'm back at my old weight and then Momma and Daddy can relax.

In the meantime, the weather outside is getting chilly and I am loving every minute of it! Watching all the squirrels, seeing the pretty colors. and of course, running through all the leaves to make that nice crunchy sound - BOL!

"Howl"o'ween is almost here - I can't wait since it means extra special treats! Hope you get spoiled for the holiday, too, and get more treats than tricks! =)

Annual Exam

September 14th 2008 4:12 am

I had my annual exam at the vet last week. Momma and Daddy again expressed their concern about me getting sick so often over the past few months and my weight loss. Momma and Daddy just returned from vacation and when they picked me up at the kennel, I looked even skinnier than I first did when I got my new haircut. The vet also agreed that I was too skinny - I used to weigh 45 lbs and now I weigh 37 lbs. The vet told Momma and Daddy to start upping my food to 1.5 cups 3x a day to see if that helps bring my weight back up. That was great news to me - I love my food and I haven't been sick for a whole month now. I'm due back at the vet for a follow-up in about 3 weeks to see if eating more food made any difference. I received my needed vaccines and had blood and stool samples taken. The vet told Momma and Daddy that if they didn't hear from the office that same day, that my blood sample was good and if there was anything in my stool, they would call early next week. So far, no news is good news - my bloodwork must be okay. Daddy says that he's already noticed a difference in my weight but Momma still thinks it's too early to tell. They're both thankful that I still seem like my happy self - now I just need to bulk up and then I'll be back to normal - wish me luck! =)

Here We Go Again...

It's 2 weeks later and right on schedule, I got sick again. Momma and Daddy thought they had everything figured out with changing my food but nope! I guess I told them, er, I wish I could tell them...tell them what's wrong with me, that is, but even I can't explain it. Momma and Daddy don't know what to do anymore besides the bland diet and ease back into my food. At least this time I'm on human grade food - Solid Gold - so they're going to stick with that for now. They called my vet and explained what was going on and the vet wants to do another x-ray and even more tests like an ultrasound and something called a CAT scan. No thanks - I don't want anything to do with "c-a-t" mentioned in the name! Momma and Daddy already got my results from my previous x-ray and blood work and everything was normal so they don't want to put me through more tests. Plus, I'm as happy as can be once my stomach is empty again. Momma and Daddy even put up a baby gate so I don't get into the "tootsie rolls" that Merlin leaves in his litter crate upstairs. Other than that, they really don't know what to do. Anyone got any ideas? If you do, please send us a p-mail - thanks! =)

Momma's gone Febreze zealie cRaZy!

First, thank you to all the kind Dogsters and Catsters that have given me and my brother Merlin our lovely Febreze zealies - we love them!

Okay, now I think my Momma has truly lost it! She is going doggone crazy trying to keep up with all these free Febreze zealies! First she tried sending them individually and that was taking way too long. Three hours later, she finally figured out she can send them in bulk - BOL! It took her a while but she got it! Now her poor eyeballs are so tired that she's taking a break. We'll try our luck again later. Good night/morning everyone! =)

Oops, I did it again...

Yes, I got sick again this week so I'm back on the bland diet. This time it's boiled ground beef and brown rice. Momma and Daddy have been trying their darnedest to figure out what's going on with me and I think they found it - my dog food! A few months ago they switched my food from Beneful to Purina One Lamb and Rice. I seemed okay at the time and really liked the change. Then when they went shopping again for my food, they picked up the Chicken and Rice instead of the Lamb and Rice. A couple of weeks after that is when I first got sick. Momma and Daddy thought it might be the heat wave we had here so they didn't think too much of it. A few weeks later I got sick again and that's when they started writing down when I would get sick and keeping a closer eye on me. After talking with my Auntie who's dog Alex was allergic to chicken in dry dog food, Momma and Daddy decided to put me on a bland diet and ease me back into another brand of food that Auntie's dog Otis now eats - Solid Gold Hund-n-Flocken. Auntie was very kind to give Momma a sample so I could try it. I had a few kibble yesterday and again today - I like it very much! Momma likes the fact that it's human grade food, too. I hope that doesn't mean that she and Daddy will be sharing my food now - BOL! Momma knows this brand is not cheap but she says I'm worth it. She and Daddy don't like to see me being sick - I don't like it either. I hope this change in food does the trick! Wish me luck! =)

Thank You

Thanks to all who sent me prayers and well wishes - it's working! It's been almost 2 weeks since I last got sick. ((paws crossed!)) I've been getting spoiled with chicken and rice for all my meals except for a few days ago when I started getting a mix of that and my regular food. Now I'm back with my regular stuff full-time and I'm keeping it down. I've even had a few small treats and so far, so good! Momma and Daddy are still a little nervous and told me that I couldn't have anymore people food. Dang it! I LOVE people food! Oh well, I guess it could be worse. I could've gotten stung by a few hornets like poor Daddy did yesterday - owies! He has some boo-boos but I'm giving him kisses to make him feel better. =)

Life Explained

July 21st 2008 8:00 am

On the first day, God created the dog and said:

'Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years.'

The dog said:
'That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?'

So God agreed.
___________________________________________________ ___

On the second day, God created the monkey and said:

'Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span.'

The monkey said:
'Monkey tricks for twenty years?? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the Dog?'

And God agreed.
___________________________________________________ ___

On the third day, God created the cow and said:

'You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years.'

The cow said:

'That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?'

And God agreed again.
____________________________________________________ __

On the fourth day, God created man and said:

'Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years.'

But man said:

'Only twenty years?? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?'

'Okay,' said God, 'You asked for it.'
______________________________________________________

So that is why the first twenty years we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained to you.

Not Feeling Well

Sorry I haven't been around much, Dogster friends - I haven't been feeling well lately. I've been getting sick on an off for a few weeks now and yesterday was a doozy. I got sick in the living room and thought I got that all out of me until I went outside, ate some grass (which I thought would settle my stomach), then came back inside to drink some water and everything came up again. Momma and Daddy were very worried about me so they called up my vet to see if I could come in and get checked out. Momma and Daddy had already started keeping track of when I get sick and what I've been eating. Thankfully the nice people at Old Canal Vet Clinic were able to see me last night. They took my temperature and that was normal. Then I had an exam and they x-rayed me to make sure I didn't swallow anything I wasn't supposed to be eating. They even took a blood sample at Momma and Daddy's request just to make sure nothing else was going on. The good news is that x-rays didn't show anything abnormal and Momma and Daddy will get the blood test results later today. I got a shot for anti-nausea that seems to be helping but I can't eat anything until we hear back from the vet. I did hear something about hamburger, chicken, and rice, though. I do love that stuff since Momma and Daddy gave that to me a couple of times before. Please say a prayer that everything will be okay for me.

Hey, I made it to Times Square!

Hi, y'all! Well, today was the big day for my photo to be featured on the JumboTron in NYC for Pedigree's "Picture Your Dog in Times Square" event along with all the other doggies who submitted their photos. Momma was so excited waiting for my photo to appear - she did a screen capture when she finally saw my smiling face. We're supposed to be getting an "official" snapshot of my photo on the big screen from Pedigree but this screen capture will have to do for now. Everyone at home was doing the happy dance for me - hooray!

Celebrating my 6th birthday!

Happy Memorial Day everyone! This has been a busy week for me! I turned 6 years old on Tuesday, May 20th and have been celebrating ever since! I'm supposed to be a dignified young lady but I'm acting more like a puppy!

Momma and Daddy took me to Burger King on my special day so I could get my cheeseburger and fries - whoo hoo! Just going out for a ride was fun! When we got home, Momma and Daddy sang "Happy Birthday" to me and then I chowed down. Merlin got a little taste of burger and fries from Momma's meal so I didn't have to share - heh. After I ate, Daddy gave me my present - a Paw Tracks Tire Biter - awesome! It's this heavy duty rubber tire toy that supposed to be durable, or whatever that means. This was something very new to me and needless to say that I was very excited and tried to bite this thing all over the place! I could even fit my nose through the middle ! I was pretty tired out (BOL!) from playing with it that I took a birthday snooze.

Later in the week, we went to a dog bakery - Sharon's K9 Barkery - awesome! This is a very cool place with lots of pet stuff for dogs and cats. This was our first visit and Sharon, the owner, was very nice. When we walked in, I was overwhelmed with all the doggie smells - it was fantastic! I didn't know where to start sniffing until I heard a little doggie bark - it was Gunner, Sharon's puppy. What a cutie pie he is! He was behind the low gate near the counter so I went over and we sniffed noses. Then another doggie came in - Tito, a YorkiePoo - he's even smaller than my cat brother Merlin! He was barking and jumping all over the place - Momma and Daddy said that I did really well by just standing still while he was sniffing and barking all around me. I also had my picture taken while I was there - how cool is that? It's going up on the "Wall of Fame" with all the other doggie's pictures. Then while Momma and Daddy were trying to decide what kind of dog cookies to get me, the unexpected happened - I piddled on the carpet! The only thing I remember was smelling other doggies' scents and oops! Daddy was so embarassed - he took me outside to finish my business while Momma cleaned up my mess. I haven't done that in a long time but I'm sure other doggies have done it there, too. Sorry Sharon!

Then Grandma came over on Sunday for a small Memorial Day weekend picnic. This day was a day for memories - not only did Grandma's Daddy (my Great Grandpa) fight in WWII but it was also Grandma's Momma's birthday (my Great Grandma). Both my Great Grandparents have since passed away but I know everyone was thinking of them. I never got to meet them and neither did Daddy. We have Great Grandpa's flag in a wooden case on the desk in a place of honor. Memorial Day is a special day to remember all our veterans and our soldiers - 2 legged and 4 legged - who fight for our freedom.

Well, I was so excited to see Grandma that I bounded through the house and knocked out the screen door that leads to the deck! Uh-oh! Thankfully it didn't land on anyone or anything but I did get yelled at. Not only did I break the wheels on the screen door, but Merlin could've escaped outside. He's an inside cat and our deck is high up off the ground. I knew I was in trouble so I hid under the chair in the living room since the glass door to the deck had to be closed. Afterwards Momma snuck a piece of hot dog from the grill and gave it to me so I knew everything was okay - whew!

I think I'm done celebrating my birthday - I can't wait to see what next year brings!

Hi, y'all! Well, I finally did it this time! I fell down the stairs and hit my head against the front door - but not without help! You see, I was chasing my brother Merlin up and down the stairs when I lost my footing and tumbled down the stairs. Daddy came running when he heard "bump, bump, yelp, bump, thud". When he saw me, I guess I looked pretty banged up - my mouth was bleeding a bit and I straightened out my leg but I wouldn't bend it. Daddy had to call Momma up so we could go to the vet to make sure I was okay (luckily the vet had an opening for us - whew!). While waiting for Momma to arrive, Daddy checked me out and cleaned my mouth so he could take a better look. It stopped bleeding so that was a good sign. Finally, Momma came home and picked us up and off we went. On the way there, I tried testing out my leg and it seemed okay but Momma and Daddy were still worried about me. I almost forgot about falling since I was more excited to go for a car ride. Momma dropped us off at the front door and I walked with Daddy without a limp - another good sign. Momma joined us after parking the car and we waited to see the vet. While we there, we saw a couple of cute pups - a 3 month old brown Husky named Shiloh and a 3 week old Min Pin that was wrapped in a blanket like a baby (he was just cold). I was acting more and more normal as we waited so that was a relief to Momma and Daddy. Finally we got called in to see the vet - she spoiled me with treats but that was a trick! She only did that so I would get closer to her so she could poke and feel around - hmph! I should've seen that one coming - you'd think I'd know by now - BOL! After my exam, I was deemed okay - thank goodness! I just scuffed or bit my lip when I fell. Momma and Daddy said they were glad that we went to the vet and nothing was wrong. After we got home, I relaxed a bit - Momma and Daddy thought I was a little sore still from falling so I got spoiled with a hot dog with my supper food and lots of lovins and attention. Both me and Merlin got a talking to about playing nice together and going easy. I'll remember that for a little while but I'm sure I'll forget in a few days and get scolded again. After all, I'm part Husky and part Brat - BOL!

Have a good weekend everyone! =)

I LOVE SNOW!

Oh yes, I do! I get so excited when I see all that fluffy white stuff blowing around outside because I know sooner or later, I'll get to go outside and play! And today was no exception! Daddy and I played catch with some snowballs and he even made me a snowdog - with treats! That was my favorite part! Thanks, Daddy!

New Year's Resolutions

As a Dog, I Promise...
Not to play tug-of-war with Daddy's underwear when he's on the toilet.
To remember that the garbage man is NOT stealing our stuff.
Not to suddenly stand straight up when I'm lying under the coffee table.
Not to roll my toys behind the fridge, and then bark like crazy!
To shake the rainwater out of my fur BEFORE coming inside.
Not to eat Merlin's food, before or AFTER he eats it.
To stop trying to find the few remaining pieces of clean carpet in the house when I am about to throw up.
Not to throw up in the car.
Not to roll on dead squirrels, rabbits, etc.
Not to lick my pawrent's face after eating Merlin's poop.
Not to eat any more socks and then re-deposit them in the backyard after processing.
Not to chew my human's toothbrush and not tell them.
Not to steal my Mom's underwear and dance all over the back yard with it.
To remember that the rug is not a face towel. Neither are Mom and Dad's laps.
To remember that my head does not belong in the refrigerator. Or in the
dishwasher.

Merry Christmas!

Hiya, everyone! Hope y'all had a very Merry Christmas! I know I sure did! Momma, Daddy, Grandma, and Santa were very good to me! I received a new dog bed, some toys, and lots of treats! At first I didn't know what was going but I could tell everyone was excited. I went from person to person when everyone was opening their presents, just trying to help but being nosey as the same time - BOL! After I opened my presents I just didn't know what to do, I was still excited so I hid upstairs for a while to rest. When I came back downstairs, the presents were still there. Whew, it wasn't a dream!

A Doggie's 12 Days Of Christmas

On the eleventh day of Christmas my doggie gave to me:
Eleven unwrapped presents,
Ten unmailed Christmas cards,
My wreath in nine pieces,
Eight tiny reindeer fragments,
Seven scraps of wrapping paper,
Six yards of soggy ribbon,
Five chewed-up stockings,
Four broken window candles,
Three punctured ornaments,
Two leaking bubble lights,
And the Santa topper from the Christmas tree. . . .

On the twelfth day of Christmas, my doggie gave to me:
a dozen doggie kisses, and I forgot about the other eleven days! =)

Christmas Tag!

I've been tagged by my friend Biscotte!

Here are the rules:

Because it's Christmas time there are changes to the rules. Each players need to write a short note to Santa Paws and list five things on their Christmas list this year. Tagged dogs must post the rules and their letter with five requests. Then choose five pups to tag and list their names. Let them know by pawmail or rosette that they have been tagged and to read your diary entry for the instructions on how to play. And...since it's Christmas time give them 5 bones or treats.

Here is my letter to Santa Paws:

~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~

Dear Santa Paws,

I hope that I'm on your "nice" list since I've been a good pup (mostly) all year! I've helped Momma keep warm by snuggling with her, played games with Daddy, and although I could be kinder to my cat brother Merlin, we're best friends and I love him! I even help Grandma finish her plate so she could have dessert - that's gotta count for something! Momma and Daddy have been reminding me that you're watching so I will continue to be on my best behavior, even around Merlin.

Love,
MooMoo

My wish list:

1. More treats!
2. More toys!
3. A new bed!
4. More sleepovers with Grandma
5. More car rides, even in the snow!

I'm tagging the following pups:

Jack, Sequel, Bentley, Axel, and Jessie

Hooray - it snowed today! Me and momma were so excited! We went outside for a while to see the first snow of the year. I was waiting for more snow to fall but then it stopped and now the rain has melted most of it away. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted! I can't wait for more snow - I love it! =)

+ + + Happy Birthday to Merlin! + + +

My brother Merlin turned 5 years old this week! I knew something was up when he was getting more attention than me but he was kind enough to let me have some of the tuna for dinner. That stuff is just delicious! I was a very good girl and even let Merlin play with his birthday toys without too much interference from me. Of course, I did have to investigate the new toys once he was taking a break from them - BOL! I love birthdays, anyone's really, because we always get some good stuff to eat in the celebration! Next birthday to celebrate is my Daddy's in a couple of weeks - can't wait for the food and fun on that special day! =)

Going for a ride...to the vet!

August 18th 2007 4:39 pm

Me and Merlin went to the vet yesterday for our yearly visit. I always like going there to check out all the other dogs and cats in the waiting area. All those difference scents in one place gets me all excited! There were only a couple of doggies there when we arrived but they were busy with their owners so I wasn't able to meet them. I whined like a monkey, as momma says, but I was a good girl and behaved. Once we were in the office, I had my nails clipped and a blood sample taken - I was being good then, too! The vet tech was so nice, she even gave me a treat! Then I had to get up on this metal scale to be weighed - that was kind of scary! I was sniffing out all these other dog scents on there - very curious! The vet doctor then came in and once I saw that white coat, I wanted to hide. I was coaxed back onto the scale for my exam and everything was good except my back teeth. I'm starting to get tartar back there near my saliva glands. I had a couple of shots given to me but then got more treats - yippee! The doctor gave me an A- because of my teeth - that's something momma and daddy need to watch, which means more brushing and/or a dental cleaning - eek! On the way out, there were more doggies so of course I wanted to stay and meet them but it was time to go home. Besides, momma and daddy had promised us special treats for being good at the vets! That's the best part - going back home for special treats!

Tag Sale!

July 28th 2007 7:13 pm

Hiya, ev-fur-ybody! Boy, what a day today! Momma and Daddy brought all this stuff up from the basement last night and left it in the living room for this thing called a "tag sale." They do this once a year but I still don't know exactly what that is! But I do know that my bed got moved upstairs to make room for all this "tag sale" stuff! Just another excuse for me to lay on the furniture, as if I really needed one - BOL!! The good news was that this "tag sale" was outside and I thought I would get to go, too. But that was the bad news...me and Merlin had to stay inside. Bummer! I'd rather be outside! Oh well...what's a dog to do?

So I was stuck inside for a while and I did not like that, especially when the room darkened and I heard it start to rain. I thought Momma or Daddy would come back inside but then the room got brighter because the sun was shining so I guess they decided to stay outside. Good thing they brought out their big umbrella! A little later I heard a lot of rain, thunder, and lightning, too! Now I was really getting nervous! But as soon as I heard Momma and Daddy's voices outside, I knew everything would be okay. Momma and Daddy brought some of the same stuff inside as they already had outside for this "tag sale." Silly, parents! Why did they bring that stuff outside in the first place? At least it was less stuff coming back inside - Momma and Daddy were happy about that. They weren't happy about throwing all the stuff away that got wet but Daddy says we didn't need those things anyway, that's why we were selling them in the first place. My Daddy is so smart!

Eventually I had my bed brought back downstairs and even got a dog lollipop treat as a reward for being a good girl. A happy ending to a confusing start of the day!

I've been tagged!

I've been tagged...by my Pup Pal Pepito (wow, say that 3x fast!)

Each player starts with 7 facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged, need to post in their diary the rules and their 7 facts. Then choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to send them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your diary.

My 7 facts:

1. My daddy wanted to name me "Natasha" but my momma called me "MooMoo" since she thought I looked like a cow when she first saw me. Momma wanted to include "Tasha" in my name but thought "Tasha MooMoo" sounded too much like the 80's band "Kajagoogoo" - BOL!

2. I was a very good girl (for the most part!) sitting up front in the moving van when we drove all the way from Tucson, AZ to Bristol, CT - that was the longest car ride ever!

3. I am definitely a daddy's girl!

4. I am often told that I am a 45 lb lap dog - whatever that means!

5. Momma says I sound like an elephant when I run up and down the stairs chasing my cat brother Merlin!

6. I love going to visit my grandma, not only does that include a car ride but also I get to snoop around her house, too!

7. I don't like posing for photos - they're boring! I'd rather be playing with my Kong!

I have tagged my Pup Pals below:

Otis #171299
Patches #70338
Jack #39700
Amber #119610
Quincy #51184

My first tick - ick!

May 29th 2007 4:42 pm

I experienced my first tick this month - eww! I normally stay inside the house but on nice weather days, I get to play outside on my lead or keep watch out on my deck. Somehow, somewhere, I picked up a hitchhiker! Hmph! Momma knew something was wrong with me and that I wasn't feeling right. I hopped on the couch and lay my head on her lap and looked up at her with my adorable puppy dog eyes. That always works for getting lots of lovins. Momma was scratching behind my ears when she felt something hard. She looked at it and shouted, "Quick, MooMoo - let's go see Daddy!" (Daddy is the chief bug killer of the house, my cat brother Merlin is a close second - bol.) Both momma and daddy spied what looked like a sunflower seed behind my ear. This was a seed alright, a bad seed! Momma and Daddy worked together to get that yukky thing off me. I didn't like sitting still but I knew they were helping me so I was a good girl. Daddy got that bad buggy off and put some rubbing alcohol on me to help clean out my boo-boo. Momma gave me a couple of treats and I started to feel better already! A few weeks later, my boo-boo is all healed up and both momma and daddy check me every time I come back inside from anywhere - I got them trained really well! Plus, I love all the attention! Well, that's my first diary entry...and hopefully my last tick...at least for a while!
