Titan is a handsome and gentle little puppy, and at about seven months old,
he’s already endured more than most will in their entire lives. He came to
rescue with both front legs broken, and the break on his front right leg
damaged a growth plate that is presenting a whole new problem as he
grows. While
his left leg has healed properly, his right has developed an angular
deformity as he’s grown that will only continue to get worse without
corrective surgery. The leg is curving outward and will become increasingly
uncomfortable as it progresses. We’ve consulted with an orthopedic
specialist who feels very optimistic about the outcome of surgery if we are
able to get it done soon, because Titan is at a prime age for it right now.
As if that wasn’t enough, Titan also has some sort of neurological problem.
During a neuro consult, he was noted as having a lack of coordination,
twitching front legs, a head tilt and bobbing, slow reactions, and general
unsteadiness and ataxia. Because we know nothing about his medical history
prior to entering Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue, the list of possible causes is
very broad. Titan absolutely needs a complete neurological work up to
determine if the problem is something congenital, injury based, or a
bacterial infection, etc. because that will tell us if it is something
treatable so we can improve his quality of life. Due to his neurological
state, these issues must be addressed before he can go into surgery to
repair his leg, so it is of the utmost importance that he gets the care he
needs as soon as possible.
The window of time during which we can expect the best possible outcome for
Titan is narrow. If he was even three months older, the orthopedic surgery
may not go quite as smoothly as it can now, so time is of the essence.
Titan is a sweet, loving puppy who listens well and loves to snuggle. He
loves tennis balls, is good with cats, and loves other dogs. He has all the
makings for a truly wonderful, beautiful addition to any family. But we
need your help to make that a reality.
Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue desperately needs your help in our fight for Titan.
The holidays are particularly difficult for nonprofit organization to
procure funding because donations generally are down, while the number of
homeless dogs consistently spikes. In order for Titan to get the medical
care he needs, and in time to make a difference, we need your help with the
medical bills.
Current estimates for Titan’s medical needs are about $6000, and that does
not include medical care to date. Please, please help Titan.
It’s the time of year for giving. Don’t forget about those who cannot speak
for themselves. Give Titan the gift of a good life!
