Arrival Story:
we used to have a golden retriever that we got as a puppy from a friend whose dog had puppies. we did all the research and thought this breed would be the best for our house, yard, and family. but the puppy grew fast... over 125lbs. he loved his kid brothers and sisters, and always wanted to play, but they were ages 4-6 and were too small to play with him because he didnt realize how strong he was. we were sad when we gave him to a friend that had a farm with other dogs, but we knew he would be happier where he could run and play all the time and not have to be chained up. mom and dad were upset about not being able to keep him, and felt like they really wanted another dog, but something more suited to our size family. without telling their kids, they went to the animal shelter "just to look" (yea right) and looked at all the dogs, but the one who stood out was this muddy matted cockapoo, who had been turned in by his original owner when his kids went to college. how sad they must have been when they came home and realized their dog was gone. Toby won over his new dads heart when it was down to 2 dogs, and Toby had so much love to give, he jumped up and put his paws on daddy as if to say, "please, please take me home with you. i will love you forever." that sealed the decision in dad's eyes and mom's too. Toby now had a new family.
Bio:
our beautiful dog toby crossed the rainbow bridge this morning, Feb 10, 2005. he was 18 years old. we love you, toby.
