My Life As A Dog

Homesick & Home for the Holidays

Well, as I said last time, mom didn't go away. BUT, then before the turkey day, EVERYONE WENT AWAY! I was so sad. The whole family walked out the door one morning, and they never came back! Instead mom's friend Lisa came to feed us and take us out. I wasn't glad to see her. I wanted mom and dad and Lissa and Caleb. Lisa was nice to Magnum and me, but she isn't our mom! Of course Magnum didn't care. She was glad to see Lisa, but not me. I was so sad for a few days, I kept waiting by the door for the family to walk in, but they never would. One day I heard my mom singing, and I was so excited. But it wasn't really her, it was just some weird little round thing that Lisa was playing with. It was my mom's voice, but I didn't see her, so I started to cry. Lisa held me and made me feel better. She was fun, and she took really good care of us. I started sitting with her everyday when she came to see us. I was glad someone was there to love us. She brought her friend Jui with her, and they sat and watched tv, and gave us little tidbits of food, just like the family used to do. It wasn't quite the same, but it was pretty good.
Just as I was getting used to Lisa taking care of us, something strange and wonderful happened...one night very late, someone opened the front door. I couldn't get to it, because I was behind a gate. I looked through the dark lvingroom, and DAD, AND LISSA AND CALEB AND MOM walked through the door! I was so shocked, I couldn't believe it was them! I actually barked at them at first! I was so happy to have them home, I didn't know what to do. They loved us and hugged us, and said how much they missed us! I don't understand. If they missed us, why did they go away in the first place? Humans, I just don't get them sometimes. But as long as they came back, that's the important thing.
Well after that, turkey day came! I love turkey day! Mom cooks all day, and the house smells like doggie heaven must smell...DELICIOUS! After a while the family sits down, and eats all sorts of yummy things. And of course Mags and I get some yummy treats. Mom won't give us too much turkey though. I don't know why. Something about it not being good for us. Where she got that ridiculous information I don't know. Probably from the vet. Those vets think they know everything! How can something that tastes so good be bad for you? It's the same with chocolate. I think if turkey and chocolate were really bad for you, God wouldn't have made them! But as long as mom's in charge and listening to the vet, I guess we can't have those things. But I can smell them, that's almost as good as eating them. I mean everyone knows how important smells are!
Then Christmas came! Oh boy, I got a stocking stuffed with chewies, and a squeaky toy! I love squeaky toys! I actually got two! I killed the squeaker in one of the toys, and now I have to kill the other one. It's really a tough one. But I got the nose opened up. But then mom took it away. I hope she doesn't close it back up like she always does. Doesn't she know that I have to get in there and kill the squeaker? Mom is so silly sometimes. She doesn't understand the importance of my doggie missions. When a squeaker comes into the house, I have to kill it. I just do. It's one of those responsibilities in life that all doggies have. I wish she would understand that! Of course Magnum doesn't understand that either. She just likes to be warm and sleep and eat! I've said it before, and I'll say it again, she HAS TO BE A CAT IN DOG'S CLOTHING! Anyway, we had a great Christmas, and I can't wait to see what's going to happen this year!

Ouch!

Well I guess mom isn't going anywhere again. Boy am I glad, because Magmun becomes such a basket case when she's gone. She just doesn't understand that mom loves us and won't let anything happen to us. I guess it's sort of hard to remember that on days like today. Mom took us for a car ride today, and we ended up at the vet's office. I hate the vet! She was looking at me and touching me in weird places. They put a thing on my mouth so I couldn't open it. It's a good thing cause I might have nipped her so she would leave me alone. But she took me away to another room away from mom, I really hated that! Then they stuck me with sharp things, OUCH! It really hurt! My shoulders are so sore! But I felt better when mom gave me some yummy chicken. Magnum wouldn't eat it, she must really not be feeling well. But I'll have emough fun for the both of us! Anyway, as long as mom is there to take care of me, I'm happy no matter what happens!

Doggie Doings

Well, it's been about 6 months since we moved into our new home, and I am very happy here. The living room in this house has a wood floor, that is so fun to play on. My humans chase me, and I get to burn paw while running from them. There are lots of rooms to run back and forth in, and a big warm bed to sleep in with mom and dad. The back yard is one of my favorite places. The weather is warming up, and Mags and I love to go outside and play, and lay in the sun. The dogs next door like to bark at us, and we bark back...it's a dog thing. Then we run around and sniff, and find all sorts of interesting smells. Magnun likes to chase lizards and crickets, and I like to explore. Mostly, I like to sunbathe. It's my favorite thing to do outside. Mom went away for a couple of weeks a while ago, Mags and I didn't like it. We miss her when she's gone. I have a funny feeling she's going away again soon, I hope she doesn't. We'll see what happens.
