Me! (and, my husband!)

The "horse" and the "Is she a Dalmation?" comments. Small dogs that are anxious at dog parks and just bark at me all the time!!! I just want to play!

Favorite Toy:

Favorite Food:

Favorite Walk:
Any car!!

Best Tricks:
I raise my paw when anybody asks me a ? beginning with the word "Who". Like, "Who's a good girl?" or "Who wants to go to the park?" or "Who took the cooked leg of lamb from the counter?"

Arrival Story:
After researching rescue dogs, I knew I wanted a "Gentle Giant". I've never owned a Dane before, but all my dogs have been rescues. I searched the area and found the BEST rescuer! His name is Rene, and he's with Indian Great Dane Rescue in Escondido, CA. My husband and I drove up there and met the five Danes he owns (WOW), plus the six up for adoption. We pared it down to females and Rene told us that he had two more girls that just became available! Well, long story short, the minute Kalliope came up the stairs, we knew it!! The rest is sloppy, goofy Dane history!

According to Rene, she and her sister were rescued because their previous owners had abused them. They were kept confined in a closed garage all day, every day, since they were born! They were never even let outside!! You guessed it, they ate, slept and did their business in the garage with never a clean up!! Some good Samaritan neighboor of these thoughtless and heartless "owners" turned them into the ASPCA and then they in turn, called Rene! At first, Kalliope (we renamed her so she would forget that awful past) was afraid of EVERYTHING and cringed and shied away from anything. We asked if we were able to adopt both Danes, but Rene recommended they be seperated in order for them to bond with humans instead of each other (they were already so close, with everything they'd been through). He wanted them to have independent, happy lives. Since we've had this "little" girl, I can't imagine life without her. In fact, we're in the process of adopting another one!! We'd love to give a deaf Dane a great home!!!

OK, so I'm a little new at this!! Mom's been working with me on my typing skills, so if you read any mistakes, it's obviously HER fault!!
I'm 1yr and 9mos old and still really love to play! I was outside with my squeaky ball, when I was rudely called in to compose this journal!

I live in San Diego and LOVE the sun!!! I don't remember much about my life before here, but I hear veiled refrences to it being "not so good." Well, I'm hear to tell you, this place is AWOOFSOME!!!

There seems to be one potential weed in this paradise! Mom's bday is next week and I've overheard her and dad talking about this new guy called, "Stairway". I'm guessing he's a Dane-in-need. I'm meeting him on the 28th, so I'll let you know. Mom's already referring to him as my "brother" and assuring me that she can love us both equally! Skeptical?!? I'll give it the benefit of the doubt! Keep you informed!

Oh, she said if you want to read "Stairway"'s story, go to www.wcmastiffrescue.com and you'll find it there!!

Got to go eat, sleep and sun!!!
WWFN!! (Woof-Woof For Now)
