It started this morning. I heard the alarm upstairs go off, I heard voices saying " your turn". I barked and barked, then the alarm went off again! Finally daddy came downstairs. He called up to mommy that 'she wouldn't like what's going on '. I found out....... SNOW!!!!! yummy!!!!! It is so cold on my paws though!

But that was not when my day got bad.

After I had some breaky, mom put my shirt on and told me 'carride', I hate cars! They took me to the VETS!!!!!! There were other dogs there and would not let me play! I was not impressed! Then the lady came in and gave me three needles! I pretended to be brave, and I didn't yelp once. But it hurt! Then I hurt them talk about a 'surgury' coming up. I don't like the sounds of that. so I layed in mommys arms till we left .

Then they put me in my crate! I hate my crate! They put some toys and blankets in it to make it comfy. Once in a while mommy will put on the animal channel on the tv too. It felt like FOREVER before I saw mommy again. She came in the door grabbed me and some things and took me out. Then ........ she walked me towards the road....I HATE cars! then the really big ones that stop outside of our house are even noisier! I just sat, I wasn't going to hav any of this walking business! None at all! I just wanted mommy to pick me up. But then a lady with a beagel came over. She was a nice dog, she let me sniff her and we played for a minute. The mommy started walking, once I realized she was walking on the road , I stopped again! I wasn't going to have any of this walking business! She picked me up for a bit. I gave her a kiss for saving me. Then she put me back down! oh no I told her, I am not going to have any of this walking business! Finally, we made it to grandmas house. It's nice there. They give me treats when mommy isn't looking.

Then I went to school. I got there and a girl from class jumped on my sore back! ouch! I was not impressed! But then we went to class and I was on my best behaviour! I was the best mommy said. I got lots of treats. Mommy picked me up after and gave me the biggest cuddle and kiss!!v

maybe it wasn't such a bad day after all!

Question for readers, doggy moms and dads and pups:

What are your favourite tricks?

How did you train?

What age did you learn them?

We are going to start using the clicker today!Scotty knows sit, shake and come very well,so we will try incorporating those tricks with the clicker. lay down is in the works as with "look at me" and "all done". Stay is the one he struggles with!

Shelties are smartypants!

Note from Scotty: Yes we are!! More training?! I want my kong!

First day of School

First day! I was looking forward to it all day!We are going to the Pet Smart location close to us. Scotty, did pretty good.
He is quite the charmer. There were three other dogs in the class, two small breeds(a pom and a frise)and a large breed(which I am curious to know the kind).
He is the only boy in his class,so you bet my little man was strutting his stuff!

Scotty was a little more rany than usual,he wanted to wonder, and flirt,of course! But when it was time to preform he did! My hubby unfortunately had to work tonight,so we will continue to work on his homework this week!

What I(and Scotty)learned today:

-It's ok to limit water when potty training!!I was wondering why such a smart lil guy couldn't potty train. He would come in and drink and of course potty.......Sounds simple rule but rookie mom me didn't think that I could limit the necessity,as I saw it.

-"marking"behaviour consistent identifier when a puppy has done something correct. Speaking of this, today I got a clicker! Much to my coworkers dismay when I brought it from lunch break and was "marking" them.
-"look at me" command treat to their nose then to mine, when he engages TREAT!

-"sit without saying sit" this guy had this done pat...after engaging attention hold the treat above the nose, they will naturally sit TREAT!

-then followed by "all done"command or"release" .To inform that the command is finished. Scotty had a hard time with this, I haven't decided whether it is because he didn't want to stand up or because he was so proud that he sat and got a treat. It makes perfect sense to me to! If I got a piece of chocolate every time I'd sit down I would start to think the longer the sit the bigger the chocolate!

We can't wait for next week!

Scotty has made a friend outside our townhouse. Couple doors down is a 8 week old Great Dane! He is already triple the size of lil runt Scotty. We seem to e on the same potty schedule so we see them quite a lot.Everything was going good until the dog snapped at Scotty! We calmly intercepted,Scotty yelped, luckily not injured. I really hope they can be friends. Or if that is wishful thinking, behave so we don't have to hide them away from each other! Especially when the big one grows into a horse!
