Arrival Story:
i got a call from bonnie of "Hearts for Hounds" rescue or maybe i called her to update her on autumn aka zelda, i dont remember. anyway, she said they had this little minpin and he was an OTI and was basically a holy terror and would i be interested in taking him on since i had adopted zelda and she was doing so well. i drove to long beach and picked him up. he was the most frightened and yet cocky minpin ive had to this day. his name was bernie but i quickly renamed him zayn, which is arabic for beauty. he was a gorgeous little guy, too bad he didnt have the personality to match. he peed on everything and would pick fights with all the other dogs and bark bark bark. oh and he was a biter. he bloodied my hands alot in the beginning and had all kinds of aggression. he hated to be touched or picked up and cutting his nails was a huge ordeal. when he was sweet he was the best and it didnt take long for him to warm up to me. he still hated everyone else and woudlnt let them touch him or touch his things. it was an amazing day, over a year later, that he reluctantly let my friend stephani hold him after i placed him gently in her arms. we held out breathe waiting for him to freak out but it was progress! over the next year he came to trust stephani and would relax in her arms and enjoy being pet. he still had alot of issues but it was nice to know that he at least had trust with a few humans. this past summer, zayn unexpectantly died. he had his neck snapped by a great dane and as bad as this sounds, he probably had it coming. zayn was a butt sometimes but he was mine and i loved him very much and miss him greatly. its been about 6 months but it is just as painful as if it happened yesterday. i just hope hes at peace now and i like to think that hes having a grand ole time peeing on everything and strutting his stuff while prancing around with that little blue bone he loved so much

hi zayny
mommy couldnt help but look at your pics tonight. its all still as painful as if it were yesterday. even though youre with me always, i miss you greatly. ive shared my life and loved many rescue dogs ive fostered and cared for and ive definitely lost my share. but you werent taken from me by age or sickness and so i think its made it so much harder for me to let go. in hind site it never should have happened and you shouldnt have had to leave so soon.
but you did... my little red boy... my prancer... my sweet zayn.
mommy loves you
