Arrival Story:
I was looking for a second dog. A friend and I decided to go visit a few shelters she knew about in New Jersey. we hopped in the car and took Max with us and her daughter. I knew I wanted a girl and about what age I was looking for and wanted her to be german Shepherd. We were at the last shelter and almost left when we saw her. They allowed us to put her in a fenced in yard with Max and us to see how they would get a long. She was so shy and submissive. They seemed to do ok togetehr so we brought her home. SHe got sick about half way home 45 minutes in the van..I think she got sick 3 yimes in that trip home. I dropped my friend off at her house, called my daughters to meet me at her house so they could take Max home with the. I took Sammi home with me. My daughters weren't sure if they wanted to be part of this. My oldest bonded within minutes with Sammi. my middle child wasn't so sure and my son was thrilled. My husband was so-so about her but he warmed up to her as soon as she climbed up on his lap and gave him a kiss and wanted to be pet. We took Sammi out that first night for a walk which was really funny since before that she wasn't on a leash. My children called her the drunk puppy because she couldn't walk she zig-zagged as she walked. She is better now but she pulls on her leash a lot. She was always with Max. We have noticed that she is a different puppy when she is out without him, more shy, cautious, not sure of herself. I am trying to take her more and more by herself. She's is no longer shy but will still be submissive and roll over to show her belly to Max or my family. But WOW how she has come out of her shell! They say you don't get the dog you want you get the dog you need, well I believe it because both dogs were what we needed at that time. Sammi is definately a work in progress and showing me what I need to work on too
