Long Weekend

Today, mom and dad did not go to work. Ok, mom doesn't work on Friday most the time, but dad didn't go to work either. He did get up early, though, because he had to get the car inspected. It makes lots of noise. You can hear us coming 5 miles away. Plus the window does not go down, so when I go on car rides, I can't stick my head out of the window, and I can only go places that I am invited in, since I can't wait in the car. So mom and dad knew the car would need some repairs before it passed inspection. This year it was dad's job to do it. Me and mom hung out at home. She had some paper work to do for her job, but mostly she spent all day petting me and letting me go in and out.

And then, dad walked in the door. We didn't hear him at all. The car was fixed. We got new brakes. (That's what was making all the noise). The car window goes up and down. HOORAY! And apparently you don't need a speedometer or a gas gage to pass inspection.(The GPS doubles as a speedometer so we are not totally unsafe.)

Mom went to the laundry mat and dad went out in the backyard to burn bamboo. I went out to help him. And guess who came to help burn? Luke! Ok he was really going to a graduation party at a house up the street, but they already served cake and so he came over to visit. Mom came home and was so happy to see him. He showed mom his new truck. He is also going to California to compete in a Future Business Leaders thing. His team won state and now he is California bound. HOORAY! Later on Jake came over to visit as well. They couldn't stay too long because Luke had a date. Mom was happy to see them and they said they would all do something together soon. Maybe me and Reece can get together to play.

So anyway, I heard it was a long weekend and mom and dad don't have to go to work until Tuesday. I certainly hope they spend most of this time petting me and letting me go in and out. I heard dad say he wanted to sleep in tomorrow. Is 6:00 too early?

Mystery

First, I want to thank everyone for all the flowers and mother's day cups. It was perfect and I hope that everyone had a good mother's day.

Jake and Luke stopped by to see momand brought her a flower and a card and a gift card. Then later in the week, Jake took mom to dinner and the movies. Jake just finished his college finals(Jr. year) and he is starting a grown-up job this summer(internship with a lawyer). So he and mom had some special time. I don't know why I could not go with them, especially since I enjoy Mexican food and I heard there was a doggie in the movie that they went to see, but I was left out.

Then yesterday mom's kids that she teaches had their graduation. Once again, I was not invited, even though I often take mom to work and all the kids know who I am. Dad went to graduation and said it was all very nice. The kids sang all of their songs and said the pledge of Alligiance really well. (Except they pledged to the United States of Murica). Mom was in a more relaxed mood since that was over. She still has 8 days of classes and then she isn't sure what she's going to be doing this summer. Maybe it will be hanging with me out in the pool.

Oh, I titled this diary entry mystery because Dorothy Dot Louise in Heaven recieved a comment on a diary entry. The diary entry was from 2006. It was about a soccer game that Dot went to. The comment just said advertising and it was from projekt. We couldn't find Projekt on dogster and it seems like it may not be a dog. Mom got the feeling it was a company or something. Is mom being paranoid? Has anyone else gotten strange comments lately?

Well, that's about all for today. Dad and me and Roger are cutting and burning bamboo so I guess I should get back to work.

Happy Mother's Day to all you dogmothers out there. And to 'nonymus who gave us a heart thank you so much. It means a lot. Now I am going to go do something extra sweet for my mom. I know all you doggies are doing the same.

AM Excitement

This morning there was an animal in my carport. I heard it and wanted to get it, but it was very, very early in the morning and mom has this rule. NO WAKING HER UP BEFORE 8AM ON SATURDAYS. This is one of moms very important rules. So I walked all over the house as noisly as I could. But mom was not getting up. Then my neighbor Huck started barking at the trespasser. I would have thought that would have woken mom up. But she was still sleeping. Down the road raced an ambulence with sirens blaring, but still she was sleeping. The thing that finally woke mom up was when the power went out. And then it came back on and the lady who lives inside the phone started to talk. THAT is what woke mom up. Mom could tell I was going crazy and since the power went off she didn't know that it was WAY before 8am she let me out. I went on the porch and then went back to the door so mom could come out soon. (If I was going to chase an animal away, I wanted witnesses to see how brave I am.) Mom went on the porch and saw a great big racoon going through the garbage. I wanted to run after it but mom said NO. She said wild animals have deseases that would be bad for me. But, just knowing that I was on the porch made that racoon turn and run. And I saved the day. Of course mom had all the garbage to clean up. And she had to reset all the clocks. (I don't think the racoon made us loose power. Mom was pretty sure that was related to the ambulance.)

Well, since mom got up before 8 on a Saturday, I guess it's time to take a nap.

Vacation

I have not written for a while because I have been on vacation! I know! and it's not even summertime!

Me and mom and dad packed up the car and went to WVU where mom and dad met and learned stuff and met their good friends M. and R. That is who we went to visit. They are some of mom and dad's oldest friends. They do not have any animals but they have 3 children. Ok one teenager and two college agers. The boys don't live at home but they live close enough to visit. The girl lives at home and that's why we went. She was getting confirmed and mom was being her sponsor.(or to put it another way-Mom was helping herjump into the church. or to put it another way-no more CCD).So the family was gone a lot and I got to guard the house.

They have a great big house with lots of stairs and a really great sunporch. That was my favorite spot. It was like being indoors and outdoors at the same time. And eve though they live in the city they have a lot of land and a lot of wild animals come to visit. I had a lot to bark at including: squirrel, rabbits, raccoons, possums and deer. Dont worry M and R you're house is safe with me around.

The next day we got into the car and guess where we went-Grandma's! HOORAY! HOORAY for grandma! and I got to see Uncle A and Uncle D! And grandma made me delicious food. Oh I forgot to mention that M and R do not eat meat! I know! How crazy is that! They eat stuff like salads and fruit and beans. so by the time we got to grandma's I was ready for some bacon. (Ok I don't really eat people food-I get meat in my dogfood, but it's nice to know there is some meat in the house, just in case).

After we visited with grandma, we went back to Morgantown for a day and then we went back to our house. It was a good vacation. Mom said it was good to get away for a few days and now it's back to work.

Wow! It's been a long, long time since I updated anyone. Mom has been super busy with work. Now she is preparing for graduation. The last excuse I used for not writing is that mom was getting ready for inspections. She is going to find out next week how she did. I guess work just takes a lot out of mom. But after graduation, mom should been off work for most of the summer.

Today mom and dad both had the day off and they spent it doing housechores. Ususally when they get this cleaning crazy it means grandma is coming, but it turns out we just have too much junk and not enough house so we are pitching and burning and recycling. I got to go to the recycling center today. Not once but twice! It was so much fun and I got to stand on the big scale to see how much I weighed(60 pounds). I would like to work there. There is a lot going on. And get this, they don't have a watch dog they have a watch CAT! What's that cat going to watch-how to take a nap? It just ain't right. Oh well, dad said I can't work there because he needs me to watch our house. Yeah but dad, you just gave away our valuable can collection to the stupid watch cat. Now what am I supposed to guard?

Well that's about all we've been up to. I promise I'll be a little better at writing.

Spring Break Surprise

In all my bragging about how I got mom to take me for a car ride, I forgot to write about my Spring Break Surprise.

Remember how I said it was spring break but mom was spending it doing boring work. Well, on Friday we were just hanging around when guess who knocked at the door? Big and Little. And their dog Shadow!Wow! I haven't seen Big and Little since February and I never got to meet Shadow. Shadow is a black lab. She is fairly new to Big and Little's family. We played together for a while and then Shadow went home.

So I got to play with Big and Little. Of course the Fireband was back in business. Little can actually play some songs now and he thinks he may want mom to teach him piano this summer, if he has time in between soccer, baseball and going on vacation.

Big and Little brought their bikes and scooters and they rode them while I chased them all over the neighborhood. Boy was I tired. I needed a nap.

But I could not take a nap because when we got done bike riding we played hide and go seek. I got to be the seeker. Mom is always the easiest to find because she giggles too much. Big was hardest to find because he kept "forgetting" and hiding outside when we said that we are going to only hide inside.

I finally got to take a nap because mom took the boys to the library. and then she took them home. It was a pretty great spring break surprise.

I LOVE a car ride.

My most favorite thing in the whole entire world is a car ride. I don't care where I go as long as I go somewhere.

And it has been a few days since I got to go anywhere. Sure mom has gone out and about but she didn't take me. And poor dad has got the crud that mom had so he hasn't gone anywhere.

Well, I had had enough. I needed to go on a car ride. When I go on a car ride I always take a toy. So I grabbed a toy and asked to go outside. Mom let me out and I immediately asked to go back in. We did this dance for a while, but mom still didn't get it. So I took my toy and went right to the car and dropped it by the door.

FINALLY! Mom got the hint and took me for a ride all around the neighborhood. We went nice and slow so I could scout for cats. I glad to report that all the cats were inside and so were all the people, to.

Mom was just glad that no police stopped her. "No Officer, everything is fine. I was just taking my dog for a car ride."

Spring Break

Mom is on spring break. But instead of partying on the beach with all her buds she is doing boring stuff. She isn't even taking advantage of having a dog to hang out with all day.

On Monday mom put the house back together and cleaned up from the Easter Company. Our house is not very big and it is jammed packed full of stuff. So everything has a place to go. When company comes mom has to rearrange all the stuff for companies stuff.

On Tuesday mom had to do work. Work? Come on mom, this is Spring break, you shouldn't have to do work. But mom was either on the phone or on the computer all day long. She had reports to write and children to assess and lessons to plan and graduation to co-ordinate. (She did have all of her inspections, but she won't find out how she did until May.)

Today mom had errands to run. I wanted to go to keep mom company, but mom didn't know how long it would take and she was pretty sure some places wouldn't like doggies.(Then why go there?). When mom left the house she had great big shaggy out of control hair. When she got back she had short, short short hair. Mom is happy with her haircut because she thinks she will save time in the morning.

So what does mom have planned for tomorrow? Maybe tomorrow is the day me and mom can hang out all day.

I need to teach mom how to have fun on Spring Break Again.

Easter Report

First I want to thank everyone for all the Easter Gifties and I am sorry I have not reciprecated. I have been busy entertaining.

My Maw-maw, Pap and CoCo came to visit for Easter. CoCo is a cocker spaniel. She isn't too bad. She basically will follow any one who is walking somewhere, especially if they are walking into the kitchen.

Maw-maw brought a ham and we have been eating on it since Saturday. Mom thinks she will probably make ham and bean soup tomorrow.

Mom can do that because she is off for a whole week. She is on Spring Break. Does that mean we are going to go to wild parties on the beach this week? According to mom, NO! She has some things to do for work. She has some doctor appointments. She needs to CLEAN CLEAN the house. And I guess now she needs to make ham and bean soup. What kind of Spring Break is that?

Anyway, I hope everyone had a great holiday. Me and CoCo hung out and ate ham. Our People went to the Indian Mound. (Pap is a history buff) and they went shopping and they went to the music store. Mom and dad did the music for Easter morning and it made them so tired that after brunch they took a nap all day and neither CoCo nor I got to take a walk on Easter. Didn't mom know the Easter Bunny may have dropped some goodies?

Well I had a nice visit with my relatives but I am glad they are gone so I can get my bed back. I don't know why I always have to give up my room everytime company comes. I think I'll take a nap in my bed.
