Jillian is Gone

Hello everyone. It is a sad day in our house again. Jillian's last diary entry has to be made by me, her mom, because she has crossed the bridge.

After several great weekends playing at the dog park and going to doggie daycare with her brothers, we noticed that she had lost a little weight. Didn't think much of it because of all the extra running around she was doing.

This Sunday we took her to a craft faire at a local park where she got endless pets from everyone she met and even got to sample the treats and pick the ones she wanted from a booth. All seemed fine and we went to Petsmart and bought groceries before going home.

When we got home she shared her doggie cookies with her brothers (sitting pretty as always) but didn't want her dinner. We noticed that someone had thrown up but didn't know for sure who and thought it was just too many cookies.

The next morning she didn't want breakfast and didn't want to get out of her bed. I took her to the vet thinking she just had a bug when they found a lump in her abdomen. X-rays showed a tumor on her spleen.

THis morning I took her to have her spleen removed thinking that I was going to bring her home in the morning but when they opened her up they found that she had multiple tumors throughout her liver and pancrease that it most likely had spread throughout her body.

Jillian didn't get to wake up from her operation and I didn't get to say goodbye in person, but I hope she knows that I am sorry and would have done anything to make her better if I could have.

I WILL MISS MY HOUNDIE BOUNDIE JELLY GIRL and Woody, her wrestlemaniabrother, will surely miss her too.

We love you Baby. . .

Greyhound Gathering

Wow, this weekend was Mom and Me bonding weekend. We went to the West Coast Greyhound Gathering in Solvang, CA. It was GREAT! We stayed in a very nice hotel with lots of other greyhounds. THe weather was a perfect 72 degrees all weekend and we walked and walked.

There were nearly 300 greyhounds there in all colors and ages, all rescued/adopted from some situation (mostly racing). I got blessed by the priest at the mission and even got to go to Monty Roberts' Flag Is Up Farms (The Horse Whisperer) with mom.

Mom bought me the most beautiful emerald green, satin collar with a Japanese print and green and gold beads to wear with it. I also got two brand new jackets one for cool weather and one for cold weather.

I had such a good weekend with Mom. She took me to eat at restaurant patios and shared her meals and I had her attention all to myself.

We brought back baked goodies to share with my brothers and new collars and tag holders.

I can't wait until next year!

Lady Pampering

I got to go to a resort this weekend. My brothers, Woody and Marino came to, but I didn't even have to share my suite with them.

Mom bought me a new toy to sleep with and they even had a special bed for me even though we took our own.

The nice ladies let me play with a golden retriever in a big yard and playroom all weekend and even let my brothers and a little pug come and play with us once they realized that I like little dogs and play nice.

I played and ran my heart out for four days. Whew! I was so worn out that I plopped on my bed and slept like a rock all night. I ate good and played hard. I want mom to take us to doggie daycare there sometime.

This weekend I am going to a greyhound gathering with Mom. I can't wait to see some more greyhounds. I will make sure to bring special gifts home to my brothers.

Great Weekend

THis was a three day weekend and boy it was good. Saturday we went to the dog park, Sunday we went to the people park and Monday we went to the stable.

Mom took us down to the river and let us play in the water. I made the poodles freak when I went in and laid down in the water. The only thing sticking out was my head! Greyhounds need their baths and what better way to get than to lay in the Kern River. Mom tried to get a picture but she almost dropped the camera in the water. I didn't laugh (too loud).

She walked me all around the stable and even rode the horse with me on the leash. When I got in the back of my truck that crazy horse came over and tried to kiss me. That big ol tongue got green slobber on me. Had to go back to the river to rinse.

Boy, I wonder what the greyhounds at the track would think of my life now.

More Friends

Catch up on my sister kitten, Nala. She is getting along fine. As you can see she is sharing my food from my bowl. I guess she can stay.

Now, Mom has brought home another dog. She is always bringing home a stray. This one is a female Collie mix and she is quite nice to me. I even played with her like a puppy. Mom says we can't keep her but may Dad will end up liking her. We need to move to a house with a big back yard for all of us to play in.

Life is still grand and I am a very happy retired girl.

Well, they're gone and we're here with the sitters. Mommy is running a marathon this weekend at Disneyworld. Sounds like fun (Disneyworld not the marathon). I used to run but I was a sprinter and do not have any desire to do more than that.

Hope they do great! Hurry Home!

CHRISTMAS!

Yeah! It's Christmas! What a wonderful day.

We got rawhides in our stockings and squeaky toys and treats from our friends. I have been working on demolishing a very large rawhide bone all day. Mom took it away for a while because I actually made my gums bleed a little.

Tomorrow mom doesn't have to work. Maybe we can go to the dog park and tell our friends about our Christmas.

What a busy weekend. Yesterday Mom took us to see Santa Claus. I wasn't so sure about him but he was alright. In fact, he gave us a treat when we finished sitting on his lap.

Today we got our portraits taken. Mom couldn't decide what we should wear so we took two different styles. One in our winter best and one in our football outfits. We came out quite lovely.

After we were done with pictures we got to go to the dog park. What fun! I ran more today than ever, and fast too.

I shall sleep like a log tonight.

Grooming

Well, today was my first time at the groomer. Mom's been bathing me herself but we are going to go get our picture taken with Santa and she wanted us all picture perfect and smelling beautiful. The groomer said I was such a good girl. I don't know what else she expected. I am soooo soft and smell really good. I got the same kind of cologne that the poodles got.

We have Christmas bandanas (I am the only one with pretty red poinsettias) and mom said if she can get some she will put hats on us too. I hope I'm not scared of Santa. I've never seen one before.

I'll let everyone out there in Dogster know how it went.

It's been a while since I wrote. Just enjoying the retired life.

We still have that cat, Nala. She has quite the personality. She actually stole my bed! Yep, when I tried to go lay on her she wouldn't even move. She just looked straight at me and hissed. Well, just wait until mom isn't looking. . . . Hm, I wonder where Nala went?
