Arrival Story: A few years after my paralysis (due to viral illness), my family (wife & children) began nagging me to get a service dog. I would always tell them no, "it wouldn't be fair to a dog" living in an apartment with no private backyard, that the rules and requirements of service dog organizations / programs were too complex, and I just didn't want to hassle dealing with any conflicts that may occur with the owners of the apartment complex we live in. But my family, whom always are concerned for my health and happiness, never give up. So, after speaking with a few people that had trained their own service dogs, my wife did the necessary research and got all the necessary information / documents. Without my knowledge, my family found a local breeder of Golden Retrievers. They decided to surprise me by taking me to the breeder, but with me thinking we were going to the home of our daughter's friend. After arriving to a beautiful home in Cota De Caza, I was escorted to the backyard, where I was welcomed by a band (litter) of playful 8-week-old golden retriever puppies and where I/we met and chose Major.
