I sure like to sleep more, and the cold air makes me want to stay inside, However, when I am off leash by the creek and I see some ducks, I go after them and end up swimming and then running while soaking wet in the 15 degree air. I look like a silver lab with all the ice crystals in my fur.
I'm a little overweight, even though I'm fed less and get walked twice a day - 30-40 minutes in the morning( I'm beginning to NOT like going out at 6 am when it's 12 degrees) and 40-60 minutes in the evening in addition to a little fetch in the back yard some days. My weight gain could possibly be because I jump the fence, run down the block, jump the neighbor's fence, and eat off a left over turkey the neighbor has sitting in their yard for some reason.
Anyway, I'm still really sweet, but I'm like a walkman cassette when the battery is just a teeny bit low, so the cassette turns a hair slower than how it should.

So, Mom & Dad left some pork in the sink to thaw - well, they turned their backs on it - what else was I supposed to do? They had Domino's Pizza instead that evening. Next day, Mom is having leftover pizza on the deck. I did something I've never done before - I tried to take a slice out of her hand. She was shocked and very disappointed with me. Unfortunately, I didn't have a good grip on it with my teeth yet, so no pizza for me. I'm sure I'll have another opportunity for a yummy treat soon!

Wow - after a month of cold rain, Nov 1 was warm sun and you really got a chance to swim in the river. It was weird though, there were a couple dozen ducks and you didn't go after them - except once - and then only for a minute. At one time there were 3 Labs, 2 Chessies and you - all ignoring the ducks to chase tennis balls. I talked to one mom and she said now that her lab is 5, he's out grown chasing ducks. I think, though, that you have become so focused on the ball, the instinct to chase a duck can't alter your behavior. That one time you DID go after a duck, you had a different attitude than when you chased the ball - you were moved quicker, jumped farther, and swam much faster.
