So, I thought I would share my story. You know everyone's got a story, right? Well, mine really began when I was a year and a half old. See, before then, no one really knows what my life was like. I just remember one day I was at the SPCA and another family came in. This time it was a mom, dad, and a little girl about 2. At first I didn't pay too much attention since lots of people came in to look, but no one was interested in me. After all I wasn't one of those cute and cuddly little puppies and I was shaking and trembling in the back of the kennel I was in. This family went up and down the line, looking in all of the cages and then the most amazing thing happened. That 2 year old little girl? Well, she liked me. She stood right in front of my cage and pointed at me. She wouldn't look at any of the other dogs. She told her mom and dad that she loved ME. The mom and dad were a little reluctant since there wasn't a whole lot of history on me. I was dropped off by a man that said he was leaving the country and couldn't take his dog with him. I was scared of my own shadow. But they took me out of the cage and spent some time with me; and even though I was a scaredy cat; they liked me...they really liked ME! Right then and there I was adopted! I wish I could say we all lived happily ever after. Well, we did...but not without a few hitches along the way. The reason I say my story started when I was adopted is because apparently I didn't have a happy puppy life. I was afraid of EVERYTHING. Loud noises, people raising their voices, umbrellas and I could go on and on. My family quickly realized that I was more than likely not treated well. My family gave me a second chance at the life that I deserve and for that I am eternally grateful..but the best part? Is that I have given them unconditional love and companionship. Sure, they could have "bought" a dog somewhere. One in which they knew the lines and the history of. One that was bred to be the "best". But my family thinks they got "the best" when they adopted me. So, I ask all you out there....when it comes right down to it....why not give an animal a second chance at a life that they deserve by adopting? The rewards are immeasureable. I'm living proof.
So, here it is Wednesday, hump day, and lucky me!!! My family is off today and gets to spend it with me! Hooray!! But, then (sigh) it rains allllllllllll day loooooooong. So, that is kind of depressing. I'm still glad they were home with me though!
I had one moment of fright though when my human sister Sophie and my dad started to play Wii. I mean I have seen them play Wii a lot and especially that rock band. It gets pretty loud in here. But hey, I can rock out with the best of them. But today of all days...they decide to play tennis and baseball. I must have been sleeping if they played this before because I have never in my 7 years seen anything like it. All of a sudden they are taking that Wii remote and looking like they are going to throw it at the TV. And I'm like WAIT!! STOP!!! Save the TV!!!! So, I start to bark. This gets me no where. So, I start to bark louder....I mean HELLO PEOPLE! ANYONE OUT THERE?? You NEVER, EVER throw anything at the TV! Finally my mom got down on the floor with me and explained that this was a game and that they really weren't going to launch the remote at the TV. Whew.....sometimes it is tough to be the top dog in the house. Having to watch out for everything can be stressful. And I'm supposed to avoid stress and caffeine during my recovery. I'm much calmer now. Kinda made me think of Scooter when I sent her an email that said ALERT! not even thinking that she was worried about me and my recovery and that the word ALERT might send somebody into a tizzy. I got a big laugh over that...but I got paid back today with that episode. Who makes games like this??? What is wrong with just a plain old tennis ball. You know I hear that back in the day that was fun...just a ball and being outside. No more. So, I'm exhausted and my back is itching up a storm. I have been in that embarrassing situation of having my leg up and moving but not able to itch anything at all..and the humans just looking at me and saying oh look, he's got an itch. PEOPLE! Come on!! Help a beagle out! If I could talk everyone would get an earful. That's for sure. Well, goodnight everyone!! Happy Veteran's Day!!
Okay...I've been tagged..by Scooter!! I hope I do this right, since this is the first time I've been tagged and I'm new and all of that.
Q:Do you prefer eating or prefer going on walks?
Eating of course!! Who would go on a walk when they could eat????
Now I think I'm supposed to tell you all 7 things about myself.
1. My favorite thing other than eating is to take a nap with my mom and snuggle. :)
2. I have one human sister named Sophie and two fur brothers: Oxford- a boxer/bulldog mix and Wesley-a border terrier mix. I also have two cat sisters: Max and Miles. I have a great mom and dad. I love my family.
3. I was adopted when I was a year and a half old from the spca. I was brought there when my family moved and decided not to take me with them. I was sad, but glad when I got my furever home!
4. I like to play with tennis balls.....I like it when someone throws them and I fetch them, BUT, I also like to just play with them by myself and roll them around.
5. I love treats..a little too much! I'm on a diet! (embarrassed)
6. I bark at lots of things...I am kind of ashamed to admit it, but I even bark when a doorbell rings on ................TV!! OOOPPS!
7. I am a miracle dog. On Oct. 16th I underwent spinal surgery for a severely herniated disc. I was paralyzed and the prognosis was not good after surgery. My mom found Dogster and more importantly, Snoop Dog Beagleys and all of the wonderful pups and parents on there. She firmly believes it was all the POP I got that has helped me to progress and I am now walking!!! It's not perfect, but it's walking!
I am supposed to tag 5 people back:
I'm not sure if these dogs have been tagged and responded yet but here goes:
1. Mike
2. Baron
3. Trudy
4. Eddie
5. Sophia
