Likes: He really likes to eat

Favorite Toy: unfortunatly, one of the cats

Arrival Story: I decided it was time for me to get a new dog. I checked the online photos from the animal shelter and saw a dog I was interested in. I went out there to look at him. He did not return my interest at all. I found out from one of the shelter volunteers that he was turned in by him owner because there was not a fence built in the whole world that could contain him. OOOPS, wrong dog for me. I took him back inside the shelter and took another look at the captive dogs. One beautiful black lab mix shyly wagged his tail at me. He was bigger than I wanted but he was very sweet and gentle looking. I took him outside on a leash for a one on one visit. He immediately put his head on my lap and looked at me longingly. Ok, new home for this shelter pup. The date I entered for his birthdate is the date I got him from the shelter.

Bio: The shelter thought he was a lab/border collie mix. about 3 years old. The vet told me he is at least 5 or 6 and at least part lab. A friend took one look and said he is a hound mix, with some lab and some other type of sporting breed, like a pointer. Rio went for a walk with my other dog, a redbone coonhound, and my friends dog, a rhodesian ridgeback cross and from the back, they did indeed look exactly the same. That gives the hound theory some credibility. Whatever his background, he is a wonderful dog.
