Arrival Story: Two weeks ago I lost my sweet, precious Malakai. I felt like I could barely go on. I didn't know how or if I'd ever be "normal" again, and went on this quest to find another Malakai. What I wanted was an exact replica, but I ended up with the exact opposite.
I'm not sure how this 3 1/2 month siberan husky baby ended up at the pound, but he was turned in as a stray with no background information. He looked nothing like my boy Malakai and he was extremely anti-social at the shelter. I had search all week and he was the only male I could find so I figured I would at least check him out.
When Mauii first walked into the shelter interaction play area, he couldn't find a place to run and hide fast enough. Maya and I ignored him and played amoungst ourselves. The Maya left me to start sniff around the yard. Two minutes later this small little red dog...that looked more like a fox...jumped into my lap and started licking my face. The rest is history!!

Bio: Mauii was named Mauii in loving memory of my sweet precious Malakai. Malakai loved the beach and his name was Hawaiian. While not a moment goes by that I don't miss Malakai, having Mauii definitely helps ease the pain of losing Malakai, and he sure does keep me plenty busy. One of Malakai's trainers once told me, "You don't get the dog you want. You get the dog you need." Mauii is helping me move forward and focused on all the good times I had with my sweet Malakai.

Is it possible? My mom says I had another growth spurt. Not getting wider, but getting longer. I didn't know I'd still be getting longer at 15 months? Maybe, just maybe, I won't be a midget husky after all!
Well, I guess still a midget since I'm not getting taller. So when do I stop with these growth spurts, and just how long am I going to get...I wonder?

I've been going to your doggie day care facility for about 7 months now, and I just want to let you know that I am a boy. My first birthday was last week so officially I am now a man, but never the less, my gender is male.
Each time I come you always, consistantly place a red collar around my neck to suggest I am a girl. I've been letting this slide for 7 months now, but yesterday it really bothered me!
Last week I purposely rolled on my back so that you could see I was, in fact, a male, but yesterday you put another red collar around my neck to signify I was a girl!
In the future, I would appreciate getting a blue collar, just like all the other boys.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
The very masculine Mauii
