Arrival Story:
Mickey was born in Kansas to a puppy mill and nobody was ever interested in him. He became a year old and so then he went to an auction. A woman from Missouri went to the auction, bought him and then advertised him on the internet. Since I already had Pooh Bear, I figured it was something that was just meant to be.

Within a week after Mickey arrived at his forever home, he broke his wrist. Both bones. And while it was trying to heal he broke it again. At this point we are just trying to save his leg. No matter because he is at his forever home!!

This week we got a new cage for Mickey to be in when I leave. The dr. has released him to run and play. This week starts all kinds of new things for him. While he was in his casts, we kept on with the potty training. Now he has to start learning his basic commands. We have noticed all kinds of new things about him. He doesn't hike his leg, like most male dogs. He thoroughly loves the game of "chase me". He doesn't mind wearing clothes. He just loves to intimidate people with his barking, as if he is a big dog. When he gets tired and wants to sleep, he just crawls into his crate and goes to sleep. He also is doing more things with daddy, so that he won't be so afraid of him. All food comes from daddy, walks with him and Pooh now, and sometimes he evens likes to go to bed when daddy does.

Mickey came home tonight from surgery and they said that the pin came out real well. He has one stitch that they said I could take out myself and I can cut his last cast off in one week when I take the stitch out. However, he has to remain in his cage for another three weeks, so that it can finishing healing. We are not completely out of the woods, but our chances are a whole lot better now.

Finding my little guy

I found Mickey through the internet. The woman contacted me back and we talked for awhile. Mickey had been brought up in a puppy mill setting, and then bought by a family that tried to return him. The original owner took him and sent him to an auction in Kansas/Missouri. The lady that I got him from picked him up from there and then tries to find them good homes. My husband and I drove after him. I loved him at first sight. We brought him home very dirty with poop stuck to his feet smelling and attracting flies. He weighed only about five pounds and he was 17 months old already. We got home and my whole life changed in the first week. My husband, who had been laid off for a year, suddenly has a job. My 23 year old daughter moved home with her child. My house went from quiet and serene and peaceful to just plain crazy. In the middle of all of this confusion, Mickey jumps out of my arms and breaks his leg. It started to heal and then he broke it again. It is finally starting to heal. Tuesday he goes back in for his second surgery to remove the pin. We will know more then, but at this point we are just trying to save his leg. He loves Marissa, my granddaughter, but he does not like men. We are working on this issue.
