I'm so excited! My dog mom will be hosting the third annual Howl-oween Charity Event soon and I get to go! If you live in Fairfield or New Haven County in Connecticut, you can join me on October 23rd from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., so we can help out homeless dogs in need. This event is held in support of National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, which is observed November 7st - 13th, 2010. It will include a dog costume contest and parade, as well as dog show fun matches, with categories to include: cutest dog, best tail wagger, best kisser and more! All breeds AND mixed breeds are welcome to compete. Prizes and ribbons will be awarded in all categories. This event will also feature many interesting vendors, face painting, animal rescue groups with details of adoptable pets, pet photos with ‘Raffi the Rescue Dog’, animal care workshops, a DJ, refreshments, door prizes and a Silent Auction, plus much more! All proceeds will be donated to local animal shelters and rescue groups. Paws and Kisses and H3 Pet Supply are proud to announce that this event will also be a collection point for this year’s “Presents 4 Pets” collection campaign. The “Presents 4 Pets” campaign is an annual collection drive sponsored by the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS) that is designed to benefit pets in shelters by providing items desperately needed to help keep shelters operational, and animals comfortable and safe. Items such as toys, treats, blankets, towels, rugs, beds, leashes, collars, and cat litter are all being solicited and can be brought to this event for donation. All items will be donated to local shelters and rescue groups. To find out more about this event, visit the website at

Hi, My name is Gizmo! I'm a special dog (I know this becuase my mommy always tells me so). I'm a rescue dog. My mommy found me at a shelter in New Jersey one day when she was doing some volunteer work there. I was found wandering the streets of the Big Apple and was taken to a kill shelter . . . where I almost bit the big one! But some nice people rescued me and took me to the 'burbs' to find me a home. I was an older dog, was very cage aggresive and missing my first home and all upset, so they had trouble placing me. Then I met my mommy and everything changed. From the first time I saw her, I knew I could trust her. I just stared at her the whole way home in the car and from that moment on, I have always been as close to her as I can get (never more than 6 feet away - unless she puts me in my puppy home (crate) and leaves me alone (which I don't like much, but what can you do? After all they are just humans and they don't really understand the doggie mind?)).
