Leave a bone for Luca Nicknames: Normy, Lukey, Balooka Birthday: January 8th 2009 Likes: PLAYING...he is so happy and loves to run...he runs and leaps, runs and leaps...it is hilarious. He also loves to dig unfortunately and pounces on the hole like I have never seen a dog do. He loves squeaky toys and adores playing with his big brother. Pet-Peeves: He may have had a little abuse or neglect in his past. If you move too fast to try to move hi or pick him up..he flattens out on the floor on his back. He is getting over it though.Other than that, he seems to love everything. Favorite Toy: It doesn't matter. He will play with sticks, socks, toys, food, anything! Favorite Food: He eats very well...and whatever you give him he loves; but he has gotten used to having some chicken or cheese sprinkled on his food. He lays in the floor and waits for it to be prepared. Favorite Walk: I know he was picked up as a stray as a 5month old or so pup. I have taken him for walks and he is great on leash; but doesn't want to get too far from home...especially if it is dark. Best Tricks: He does a great high five, sit, and down...working on the rest! Arrival Story: After Oliver left this world...I began doing a random act of kindness each month on the day of his departure in his beautiful memory. One thing I did was help our local Metro Shelter and got on the list to know if any poodles were brought in. I was notified , and sent a photo of Luca which I will put on his page....he looked terrible and was just a puppy. I called several people and several said they would go get him and foster or whatever. I double-checked one day and he was still there. I asked them to let me know if it got close to time for him to be euthanized. I got the word that it was in a day or two more than likely...so I went that moment and got him. I was actually planning to get him to a rescue group I found and they were going to put him in foster and knew they would find him a good home. They said I would not be able to get him out that day because he would need to be neutered; however, when I got there, he had been neutered and groomed and did not look like the same dog. I had to leave with him then and could not get the rescue group on the phone then......so he had to come home with me. I wasn't sure Lex would be goood with a foster on his territory and I must say it was hard at first. I was so bruised from puppy bites and from keeping them apart; but I also learned a lot about how dogs work out their situation. The next day, Luca became VERY ill with kennel cough....took him to the vet at 7:00 am....then the rescue group called... and wanted to get him..I said "No, not until I know he is okay now. During that time, my dogs got sick; but not as bad and it was a rough time; but we all bonded. Needless to say, he is still here. All three dogs have bonded and Luca won't leave my side. He is full of puppy energy and he wears us all out; but once he calms down, he is completely cuddly and loving. When he is ready, he will come next to you and just fall over on you to cuddle. I guess he was just waiting for me to come and get him...I think he knew all along a Mommy was on the way....and I am quite sure Oliver may have had a little hand in it from the Bridge! He sent me the one who needed me; even though it was not my plan. HA. Bio: He was so skinny when I got him and he was so attached to the man at the Shelter who fed him. He almost ignored me...then he pooed in my car on the way home....still doesn't ride well in the car yet. HA. He weighed about 17 pounds and is now about 22 or so. I've Been On Dogster Since:
Hi Dogsters.....I can't believe I am even getting my own web page. Not long ago....I sat in the Metro Shelter ...I saw other pups being taken home with people, but I was there over 2 months. They told my Mom (of course, she didn't know yet that I was just waiting there for her to come HA) my time was almost up....whatever that means...and she flew in that car to get me. At first, I 'nored her because I like men and didn't want to leave the man at the Shelter who fed us. But, she put me on a leash she brought and put me in a car....where I quickly poopied. I figured that was a good test. HA.
I went to a home with a big yard, good food, great toys and TWO poodle brothers . Mom says I am a brat at times, but my bruvvers are teaching me how to act. I love to cuddle with my Mom and sometimes I push little Truman out of the way to get to her; but he is patient with me now too. The funny thing is that I have a long tail and they have little short poofy ones ...so I like to bite theirs. Mommy keeps saying their tails are not toys. Whaatt? Okay, I bite their ears now, Mommy! I love my new home!!!!! Mommy says I have an angel named Oliver watching over me and guiding me to her....I already knew that....he let me know a good Mommy would be coming to get me out of that cage...and he was right. I wuff you , New Mommy!
