Arrival Story:
We know the organizer of "A Better Life Save Haven Rescue and Foster Care " in Johnson City, TN. I followed Casey's story and started thinking how we worked so hard with Shelby the Yellow Lab when she came to us at 4 months, and how Shelby would be such a good teacher for Casey. Casey's Petfinder page said she was a handful. We like a lot of energy and have a lot of energy to give. We planned on adopting an older dog in time....no plans for a puppy! It turns out Casey is a typical Labrador puppy with Lab energy plus she is very smart. She just needed the right home and circumstances. We met her namesake in Roanoke, VA. Both parties drove a long way in a heavy rain storm, but it was so worth every mile....

Bio:
Casey spent a week in a pound before she was rescued by Ms. Casey. She was in foster care for three weeks. She is a wonderful girl. She is a relaxed part of the family...plays hard and sleeps hard.

My First Two Weeks at Home...

Well, they love me and I love them....I have a wonderful sisfur, Shelby....well, sometimes she sets me straight...but for some reason everyone says that is something I need from time to time...I've been up in the big people's bed, but to be honest, I like my crate when it comes to serious sleep. They let me make this decision on my own. Shelby told me she didn't like being crated, but that is because someone made her stay in one too long before she came to mom and dad. I just love it here....

Stats:
Only a few tinkle accidents, but I got that figured out, now...

One dead Santa doll, but I have another one just like him....

Killed one new toy in less than 3 minutes....but Shelby helped me...

Defluffed whale toy one day...

Apx. 7 toys destroyed in two weeks....but that is what they are for, so I don't destroy other stuff...

Don't pick a pepper out of mom's garden....other stuff is okay, but when mom tells you to "drop it" and it's a pepper, you better drop it....pumkins and tomatoes are okay to pick....yummm!

I outgrew my baby crate in the first week I was here....sisfur's friend, Jake let me borrow his big boy crate (he doesn't need it) and now I have a big crate upstairs and a big crate downstairs...but i pretty much go wherever I want when everyone is here...except the computer room with the baby gate...

Forever Home!!!!!

I meet my new family on Friday (2 days). Someone named mom and my sisfur, Shelby are going to meet me half-way. Sunni the Yellow Lab who mommied me, and the nice lady who rescued me, Ms. Casey are going to take me to mom. Ms. Casey loved me for a few weeks until she could find the perfect home. She said she found the perfect place for me. I'm not afraid of anything, so I am ready to meet this new family and start my forever life. I wonder if they will let me sleep with them...I wonder if my new sisfur will love me....I am going to make her love me.

My journey has been a little bit different so far, but I am wise for my age and know the hard knocks make us stronger. I am ready to have fun! So many of my mom's friends are surprised that pretty full bred labbies like myself can end up in a pound...but it can happen, especially when your are full of energy like me and the people who got you don't know what to do with you....these are also hard time for some people (Some of the other dogs in the pound were talking about it). I heard these new people know what to do with Labs....swimming, walking, hiking, playing ball, and lots of things to chew (that I should be chewing)! I just can't wait...I am going to miss Ms. Casey and all of Sunni's pack (even Porter) and the sweet lady who has been fostering me, but I will always be in touch because they are such good friends.
