My friend has been breeding english mastiffs for 25 years. The first time I laid eyes on an english mastiff I couldn't believe what I was seeing! The dog nearly weighed 200 pounds! After doing my research, I knew this was the breed for me. They truly are gentle giants. For the past few years I have been helping my friend with her mastiffs & handling them in shows for the CKC.
After only owning large/giant breed females I decided I would try having a male. From my own experience the breed is very gentle, beautiful, powerful & confident. I am very fortunate to have him in my life! Bio: Sailor is very well trained & well socialized. Sailor won best puppy in show for a CKC show in our area. Sailor is the nephew of "Sadie", my first English Mastiff.
Sailor rarely barks. He has just started barking over the past year & he only barks when people are knocking at the door or hears someone in the driveway(trait of the breed). When he does bark it stops your heart b/c it is so loud & deep. It is only one or two barks at that!! My mom came home from work yesterday & found a ripped plastic bag in the hallway. A few items were missing from the bag (treats & toys). My new deer antlers were lying next to my bed. Treats were lying on my bed. I found the bag that contained everything my mom bought for my xmas stocking! On the upside I have a few new toys before xmas!
My mom bought a futon for our spare room. The day it was delivered 2 men entered my house carrying it in. I sat there happily watching them & wondered what the heck they were doing. They commented on the size of me. I followed them to the spare room & watched them set it up. As they were leaving the man asked my mom if that was my room & if the futon was for me!!
