 Quick Bio:
Likes: Playing 24/7; especially with a tug....Lily could tug, all day long and not be tired...she always wins over Stan; smoked pig ears; and even though she is a tomboy, she does not fart out loud like Stan

Pet-Peeves: Not being with me at all times.

Favorite Toy: rope, rope and more rope

Favorite Food: anything, else people food

Favorite Walk: in the woods at our house in the mountains

Best Tricks: tricks are beneath Lily

Arrival Story: I saw Lily at the Animal Orphanage in Voorhees, NJ. I was looking for a companion for Stan. I knew that she would never be adopted since her energy level went beyond even the usual APBT levels. After racing around the get-acquainted pen several times, she came over to me for pets and liver treats. I brought Stan to meet her the second visit and they hit it off and I decided to take her home.

Bio: From Lily: it was hard at first. First I was wandering along a road, then I was in a cage for 4 months at the orphanage, and then I met Mom. I was very excited to meet Stan at the shelter, but when Mom got me home, I bit Stan on the paw. Yikes! I was just scared and he is sooooo big. I needed to establish who was boss (and that has definitely been established now....I AM THE BOSS OF STAN); but Mom was really freaked out. She made me a promise that her house was my last stop. She put up a four foot gate and I had to be on one side, Stan on the other. For 10 weeks, she would sit there, give a treat to me, one to Stan and tell us what great dogs we were. Then one day, she let me sniff Stan when they came back from a walk; and nothing happened. Next she took us for a walk together; nothing happened. Next I got a rope and offered it to Stan; we played! Mom was ecstatic. She realized that I just am a hyper little girl who needed some time to get used to a new home. Now Stan and I are the best of friends; we give kisses to each other and to Mom. When we are at the mountain house, I get to sleep with both of them, but here at home, I can't do that...because Mom still doesn't trust me with Zeke the Cat. So obviously, I would rather be in the mountains, with Mom and Stan and no cat!
One thing for sure: Mom did her homework on us bulls...we need lots of exercise...and I mean lots...and we need a strong leader in our house. That is what Mom is...at all times. I may boss Stan around, but not Mom!

Now, I'm on a leash for good, even in the woods. I did it once, during the big bad rainstorm in June of 2006 and Mom had to pull the quills out one at a time with a needle-nose pliers. The roads were flooded out and she couldn't get me to a vet. I was a very good girl for this procedure and the next day she took me to the vet to get out the ones in my mouth and the ones that had lodged subcutaneously in my skin. I was a brave girl. But I couldn't tell Mom, I still craved chasing them and they are hidden in the large rocks and boulders on the property in the mountains. So, one day, this past June (almost a year to the day) Mom, Stan and I were in the woods. Mom had settled herself on a large rock and was just taking in the peace and quiet and Stan and I found another porcupine! She heard the yelp (that was Stan getting it with the quills, he backed off real fast) and by the time she got there, no porkie, but we were both full of them. This time it cost Mom $1097 and after she dragged us back through the woods to the house, and then to the vet, and paid all that money, she swore, never again, in the woods, for me, off leash. I'm kinda used to it now. My best place ever anyway is to be snuggled next to Mom. She made us a flirtpole with a 5 foot bamboo pole she got at a fabric store (usually used for curtain hanging) and got a real look-alike lifesize, stuffed chipmunk from the puppyshop and duct taped it on. Now, we exercise INSIDE jumping, twirling, and running up the walls to get the chipmunk. Much safer and less expensive for Mom!

It was raining and raining and raining in the Poconos. The time of the floods in July. Mom let me out to pee and I didn't come back for 2 hours. She was really freaked, but when she saw me, she was REALLY freaked, because I had met up with Mr. Porky in the woods and I want to chase him and he wacked me with his big spiky tail. I came running home in the rain. There was no vet open; all the roads were washed out. Mom got out her needle-nosed pliers, she sat down on the floor with me and proceeded to pull them out, one by one. When it was pretty much over (she took out about 40 of them; my mouth, my face, my neck, right through my pouty lower lip), we were both exhausted. The ones that she couldn't get out with the pliers, she put her face down on my skin, and pulled them out with her teeth, just like a Mommy dog would have. Mom told me what a very good and brave girl I had been and how much she loved me. Then we all went to bed, really, really tired. The next day, we made our way out of the woods, back to the 'burbs and Mom took me to the vet where, after 1 1/2 under anesthesia, he took out the ones that were buried in my gums. Mom says my time running around the woods with no leash are over for now. She puts me on a 20 foot line. Stan, of course, Mr. GoodyTwoShoes, still gets to run on his own, but then, he always comes back. I can't help it that I am smarter and more curious than he is!

He should be happy that we even know it. I don't know my birthday, neither does Mom...all we know is that I'm about the same age as Stan...I'm sure she'll allow him to have something he doesn't usually get....but she does understand, I'm numero uno dog here and I get the treat first! There are more nylabones than you could shake a stick at here and I admit, I'm neurotic, I only want the one that Stan has. And he's very good at giving up whatever he has to me. Maybe I'll even let him have the rope for his birthday!
