My Tail of Devotion for Riley

When I got you as an 8 week old puppy, I was prepared to give you everything you needed to live a full and happy 16 years as Corgis should. We have discovered together your joy of being in the water, your love of sweets, and that gently rubbing your ears makes you feel calm and safe.

Now, we have discovered that you have cancer and that is not fair. I promise to get all the information, advice and treatment I can in order for you to live whatever life you will have with that same joy and without pain. If your life is short, it will have been lived with love, and freedom and that's what really matters.

Now that you have left this world, the one I am still in, I will hold you in my heart and neither of us will ever be alone. You have taught me so much, even how to let go of someone you love when they are in pain. You will always be my little girl. I'll always love you Rile.
