A tennis ball or stuffed toy to play with.
Dogs that get too personal, baths, the evil vacuum, snuggling during the day (at night he is all about snuggling up in bed)
His squeeky, but all sorts of toys are fun!
He will eat anything edible in sight but his absolute favorite is Canidae Snap Biscuits.
Anywhere I take him, he especially loves bikejoring.
Walking on the treadmill, Pulling my bike, Shake, High 5, Wave, Roll Over, Crawl, Spin, Down, Sit, Stay, Heel, Leave it. Working on more!
After a good 13 years of asking my parents repeatedly for a dog, they finally agreed as a graduation present! The local shelter has a program with the prison where dogs that get overlooked are taken to the prison and trained in basic obedience. One of my parents' conditions was that the dog had to come from this program. Another of their conditions was a maximum weight of 35 lbs. Toby was listed at 38 lbs but his picture made it easy to convince my parents. I had to apply for him and wait 8 weeks for him to graduate from the program before I even met him and found out if I could adopt him. From the minute we met, we bonded. He is my shadow anytime he can go where I go. At the shelter and through his training his name was Elliot, but that was also the name of our neighbor's dog! He learned his new name in a matter of hours, he is the best first dog a girl could ask for!
I didn't get a chance to find out Toby's pre-shelter story from the shelter but I am pretty sure he was a stray or at least didn't live in a very good home. One indicator was his reaction to all the sights and sounds of home life. Another was dog aggression (we are taking care of that now and he is doing much better). He also has scars that look like maybe he got stuck under a chain link fence or something, nobody knows for sure. Whatever his past life was, now he is in a loving home and is a very happy, healthy dog.

I am not a big fan of other dogs, I am learning to trust them with April's help but it is hard. I do have two good friends though! April's cousin has a dog, Nashville (aka Nash), that is my first and best friend. Just before Christmas, April's other cousin got a puppy, Gunner, who spent all Christmas day with us! We got along right away and played all day. Unfortunately, shortly after Christmas, Gunner caught the much dreaded disease, Parvo. Thanks to his owner and the wonderful vet (who would have thought a vet could be wonderful!), Gunner pulled through and is coming over for a play date this week!

April has researched breeds more than anyone she knows and has decided I am a lab/whippet mix. Whippets aren't very common in our area (but one seems to be loose and breeding nearby because we have seen more mixes in the shelter) so that is part of what makes me unique, but another thing is my tan points! Tan points aren't very common in either breed but I have them, and they are brindle! April may never know for sure if I truly am a lab whippet mix, but what do you guys think? Check out my pics and comment!
