RIP sweet bunny.

"Petting"

I've uploaded the photo of Joey "petting" me. Doesn't he look like a menace? (He's even dressed like a prisoner in those stripy pajamas.)

Coping

So that Joey is now spending every Monday with Mommy and me. He is such an intrusion! ...but I'm coping. I figured out a way to keep the focus on me. I always sit with him. Mommy still thinks I am protecting him. From what? Too much attention?

Well, actually, I am protecting him from too much attention. If I sit with him, whenever Mommy comes over, she has to pay attention to me too. It keeps me in the spotlight.

Everyone may think I am neurotic or paranoid, but Nanci took a bunch of pictures of him at our house recently and do you know how many I ended up in? One... and it's just my head peeking around a coffee table. Joey is, of course, the main focus of the photo.

I really don't know what this Joey's draw is. He poops and pees himself and then drools all over the place. Gross.

He's still here!

That Joey is still a nuisance. He has been ruining quality time with Mommy. For instance, one Sunday evening, he came over to hang out with us while Nanci and Paul went to a party. He rested on Mommy's chest the entire time, and then she picked him up and carried him around right in front of me. WTF? Uh, hello? He's bigger than me and gets carried. That's ridiculous.

I had to stay with him when Mommy and Daddy went out of town over the weekend. Paul and Nanci were Skype-ing with Beth. All they wanted to do was show him dancing, meanwhile Beth only wanted to talk to me, but she politely watched the little monster boogie. I don't know why they are making such a big deal about this. I could walk at 2 months.

The worst part is is that he pulls my tail. He is so jealous of my hair. He barely has any. Mommy says it's so sweet how I sit in front of him and protect him. HA! I am just watching him in case he makes any sudden moves... also, he can't grab my tail from that position.

Joey is a menace that must be stopped! (Btw, I will have to post the picture of him "petting" me... with his feet. I believe that's called kicking.)

Anyway, so yeah, Joey... Enough about him.

PS A big thank you to everyone for the doggy treats. They look delish!

Thank you, thank you!

With all this Joey talk, I forgot to thank everyone for their birthday wishes -- especially Raja, Duncan and the GIRLS. It was so lovely that you remembered.

I had a good birthday this year. We had a family dinner -- that Joey came too. And I had delicious yogurt-dipped cookies for dessert. Needless to say, I didn't get an L&O boxset, but Beth and I watched marathons on USA and TNT non-stop over the holidays. It was heavenly!

Joey -- Not to be trusted!

I am really not sure about this Joey character. I think he may be dangerous. Paul and Nanci don't even let him sleep in their bed, like I sleep in Mommy and Daddy's. He sleeps in some sort of bed cage surrounded by bars. Mommy even got one too in case he stays over. Everyone got walkie-talkie monitors so they can check on him while he's in his bed cage. Moreover, they wrap him up so his arms can't move when he is in the bed cage. They call it a Joey Burrito. They try to make it cute to hide the danger.

When Joey is awake, he's not allowed to sit on the sofa. He's always strapped into these different seats. In the car too! Occasionally, he sits on the floor, but only if other people are in the room to watch him. I always watch him like hawk. Sometimes he screams violently.

I don't trust him. Paul says I will have to watch my tail around him. I don't know if he wants to pull it or steal it. All I can say is that Joey's hair is not nearly as gorgeous as mine. I can only assume that he's jealous. Regardless, I don't know what exactly he is capable of, but I know it's not good.

I am staying with Nanci, Paul and him this week while Mommy and Daddy are away. Pawpettes crossed that he doesn't do anything crazy.

He's here.

So Nanci had the baby early. Thankfully, I won't have to share my birthday with him, as I am already having to share everyone's attention with him.

His name is Joey. He seems OK. He isn't really able to get in my face yet because he only sleeps, eats and poops. Beth wants me to get to know him, but Nanci won't even let me snuggle up to him or sniff him. He wears diapers and sits in his own poop, so he probably doesn't smell that nice anyway.

Joey's been over a few times, and everyone seems to crowd around him. It's like he's invading my territory. I much prefer when we go to his house.

I guess I am going to have to remind everyone that he is only a temporary baby. Joey only has a limited amount of baby time in him; I am a baby forever.

FINALLY!

Beth got a new printer today, so she FINALLY scanned the photo that Mommy had taken. Don't I look stunning?

There's still some debate as to whether I should have taken my necklace off. Beth says I should have taken it off, and Mommy agrees that she should have held it for me. However, I think it's very much like Princess Di wearing the Crown Jewels in her photos. An elegant lady should always wear nice jewelry, no?

Vote Shih Tzu for First Puppy!

I was so pleased with the election outcome. Though I am not old enough to vote, I did my part by wearing an “I bark for Barack” scarf that Mommy got me. Beth questioned my allegiance though after some unflattering pics of me in the scarf with my tail down. I was just upset because I was eating, and really did not want to be bothered. I redeemed myself by happily listening to one of Obama’s robocalls. My boyfriend Paul even took a picture of me on the phone. Anyway…

In his victory speech, President-elect Obama announced that his daughters could finally get a puppy. (I think this a brilliant decision on his part, and believe that this is an auspicious start to his presidency.) Then, in his first press conference, he revealed that Malia is allergic to dogs and needs a hypoallergenic one. Well, Obama family, I am here to save the day… GET A SHIH TZU!!!

We’re gorgeous, well-behaved and hypoallergenic! The press will love us. Malia won’t get itchy and sneezy. We have a grand history of protecting leaders – the Chinese emperors, hello??? – and one of our representatives would make an excellent addition to the White House. PS Did I mention Mommy adopted me from a dog rescue?

That said, I do resent the President-elect’s use of the term “mutt.” Um, sir, we don’t use that term anymore – even if you did use it to refer to yourself. No. We prefer “mixed breed,” thank you very much. A little diplomacy please!

Back to getting a shih tzu... I think Malia (and little Sasha, too) would love one of us. Seriously, she seems quite fabulous. In every TV appearance, her hair looks different. She must be at the salon all the time. I respect that, and so would the First Shih Tzu.
