Arrival Story:
My husband and I are currently fostering (well, he thinks we're fostering, but I don't think I can giver her up!) this sweet little girl... Our friends run a Rescue Group that concentrates on mostly Pit Bulls (and other bully breeds). We have been interested in fostering, but had two other (rescued) Pits (aged 15.5 years and almost 14 years) who were dog-aggressive (and not properly socialized). Sadly, in June 2009 our girl passed away. We decided in late August that our 15.5 year old seemed lonely and we were ready to add another member to our pack! Meiling was rescued from a shelter in our city and we gladly took her in (after successfully introducing her to our other dog).

Bio:
Meiling has had to undergo entropion surgery (on her lower eyelid). She recovered fully from the procedure, but has since been diagnosed with an untreatable kidney disease. The disease causes her to use the bathroom more frequently and calls for her to always have water available. When we first got her we were told she would have to urinate over 15 times a day... Fortunately, since we have taken her in, she doesn't seem to have to go that frequently (fingers crossed). The vet is unsure what caused the disease, but we just found out she has a sister with a similar problem, (which raises the probability of it being congenital). We are told that although there is no treatment, it shouldn't be life-limiting (phew!).
