Two Lumps - The Tale of a Mixed Breed and Her Buddy

Hi!

I hope I can do this, after all, I don't have that whole "thumbs" thing going on, and I don't let Mama cut my nails, so things might get interesting up in here!

Hi, I'm Ivy! I'm a four-year-old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix. Sometimes Mama calls me a "Tennessee Mountain Dog." I have a twin brother out there somewhere in the Tri-Cities area of Tennessee, but I don't know where. Mama got me from her sister, because her sister owns my mommy, Dixie. There were eleven of us in our litter. I get to see some of my brothers and sisters still, because Mama's sister kept four of them, my big brother Buddy, twins Maggie and Max (Maggie's my partner in crazy fun), and Patches, and sometimes I get to go over to visit them. I came to live with Mama, and Mammaw, and Mammaw's dog Holly (another mixed breed, she's Boxer and Terrier) when I was just five weeks old. I was so little! And now I'm really big.

At night, when Mama's working on things on her computer, I'm in her bedroom with her, and at night, I jump up on her bed when I think she's sound asleep and stay up there until her alarm goes off in the morning. I hate it so much when she hits that infernal "snooze" button. When she has the day off, I get to be her alarm clock, and I'm GOOD at it, too! I've gotten really good at stepping on her head until she groans and gets up and takes me outside. All in a day's work, if you ask me!

After we get up and finally get to go outside, then comes my favorite part of the day - FOOD! That's when I get the gooshyfood (thank you Eben and Snooch, I'm totes stealing your phrase, boys!), and I eat it allll up as fast as I can. Holly doesn't eat all of hers, so she always gives me what's left of hers, so the gettin' is GOOD, folks! After we eat, Holly and I have to go into our rooms so Mama can go to work, and I just sleep a lot. But when Mama gets home, we get to run and play and I like to bite the backs of Holly's legs to make her go where I want her to go. Ha ha. The life of a herding dog is sweet!

Right now, things aren't so sweet though. I've got an itching problem. Someone told us it might be mange, but I might just be allergic to the shampoo Mama bathed me with. Wouldn't be the first time a dog in this family has had a weird allergy to contend with. Oh well. I'm eating it up just the same. Mama gives me the pettin's and lots of love, and she sprayed some stuff on my itches that made them feel nice and cool, and right now I'm just lounging on her bed, getting my fur all over her nice white sheets. Ha ha! :)

I think I should end this here, Mama has other online things to do than just sit here and type for me. But I'll be back soon, maybe I'll even have some baby pictures!

Love, peace and chicken grease!
